How about a revised glossary of modern (and old) journalistic terms? Somebody just told me they'd done plenty of "source-greasers" in their time. Such a wonderful expression for those suck-up pieces that are designed to encourage a source to play the game. But there's plenty of other jargon out there which should be demystified.

He ducks under the table and "dances" to the other end, careful to avoid brushing the legs of the dinner guests. This is a metaphor for covering a story without stepping on the toes of those who can wreak havoc on our work. The Monkey Dance. It's how journalism works in a lot of places: get to the story without getting shut down.
