@JacquesPaysan: Along the coast of California there are several road stops where you can park and admire the elephant seals. Last year a rough tide killed hundreds. Weirdest thing ever, getting out of the car and watching tourists watching dead seal carnage.
Someone break out the Sporks™, because my tummy's startin' to rumble!
My only question: raw and sliced thin a la sashimi, or grilled with pineapple aloha style?
@labyrinthine IS DOING THIS: Seconded. The fascination with dead things washing up on our shores has ceased being interesting, and is just gross at this point.
@labyrinthine IS DOING THIS: No, the fascination with dead, unskinned monsters is wonderful. And hopefully you will understand this before a live one eats you.
Tortoises (and all reptiles for that matter) do NOT have nipples. This creature appears to have nipples and is therefore a mammal. Most likely it is a sloth that died, lost its hair after being submerged in water for a length of time, and the kids who found it already dead lied about beating it to death. IMHO

Dead Seal. Just like the one I snapped last Xmas. Sad. They're like the dog-hamsters of the sea.
