    Drudge makes a milly a year and is still relevant -- all from surfing the Web. Everybody at Gawker except Denton works harder than Drudge and for much less money. It pains me to say it -- but advantage Drudge.

    I'm still shocked to hear that he ever was influential. To whom exactly? I'll come to Gawker for my off-center news. At least it makes me laugh. Drudge makes me want to avoid American cheese products.

    I know he's not popular here, but I love Drudge. Where else but his website can you learn that a parrot saved a girl's life, that Terry McAulliffe is preparing to run for governor, that temperatures are down in 2008 and that we will all soon be "odor printed". The mix of fantastically well written headlines and the quirky nature of what he chooses to report on will keep Drudge around for a while. His problem at the end of the election is that he tried to change the race rather than just report it. Hopefully he learns from that mistake.

    Oh God, kill me now. Jack Shafer, Slate's master of Beltway mediocrity , of course defending poor lonely hateful sadgay Drudge in his moment of utter humiliating disgrace.

    Just because people have been "predicting Drudge's demise for nearly a decade"- (really? I thought he got his start with Lewinsky dirty talk)- doesn't mean it isn't true that yes, that bitch is done, and over with.


    Discredited. That crazy girl who carved her face that he trumpeted? Ignominious defeat for Drudge and his cheap bazaar of right-wing slander.

    Being a part of the echo chamber doesn't make you powerful. So let's say that a few months down the line, he goes back to being somewhat in touch with the media -- is it because he's driving them, or is it because he's a part of them?
