Adjusted for inflation, Kodak cameras' price range in 1900 (smack in the middle of the Gibson Girl period) would have been approximately $135-$2,500. However, even a model at the lower end of that range would have been a luxury for the average Joe, because the average annual salary at that time was $449.80. Moreover, who had time for vacation? Most people worked 9 hours a day for 6 days a week, and most folks of that period would have been in church or temple on the 7th day.

So, the fellow with the camera above is definitely a capitalist running dog.

Since some people are saying lighten up, and it's no big deal, it's satire, I suggest Mr Gutfeld make similar type remarks regarding the US military. In a nation where anything sort of total support for the troops is considered treason, I don't think you'd get have a lot of laughter at the red eye's wacky, yet harmless brand of satire.

Rick Mercer succinctly stated- "If you're going to do satire, three of the most important rules are you have to tell the truth, you can't be a bully and don't be an asshole. Being a bully is not satire."

Meh. I'm not really concerned with any pending invasion. Canadian snipers are widely regarded as the world's best. I'll just plop one of them on my front porch, get some brewskis, some bacon, Hockey Night in Canada and call it a day.

Are you people crazy? I don't know if you know this but this show is a comedy show. Basically a shittier version of the Daily Show. Some of you say that they are just narrow minded frat boys with a humor to match but maybe you should look in the mirror. You are so quick to call names and talk of things you don't understand.

@James Craig: Good thing to point out - also, I think Canadians are much more aware of our military because our media covers the war and has more access. We see those bodies being brought home in flag drapped caskets, we line up on the Highway of Heros and greet our fallen soldiers, we have much greater access to our military than the American media has to theirs, so we're given a constant visual reminder of the cost our men and women pay when they go overseas.

Canada's government opposition party just 'appointed' (not elected) a guy who spent over 30 years not living in, or caring much, about his country of birth so it's funny to watch my fellow citizens get their 'Canada up' about this.

Why don't they put as much effort into the politics of their own country as they do in freaking out about some irrelevant Faux News bingo-caller? Cause they're too busy feeling holier-than-thou about the US and, um, gay marriage! Well now we've got a Science Minister who isn't clear about his feelings on creationism vs. evolution and an opposition leader that supported the war in Iraq and the Bush doctrine.

Face it Canada. Some mouthy jerk is the least of your problems.

Red Eye is the chewy center of the Tootsie Pop that is Fox News. The rest of the news line-up may provide a micro-thin candy coating of supposed legitimate journalism but at its' core Fox News is just a bunch of frat boys cracking fag jokes. How long it takes to get to that chewy core is unknown since no one is willing to lick Bill O'Reilly.

The problem is that Peter McKay is an absolute, unequivocal asshole. He's the brain-dead scion of a conservative clan that has been at the top of the stupid oligarchy that is Canadian politics for about three generations. He's a reactionary buffoon who doesn't know how to do anything else BUT complain. So of course, when this "scandal" happens, even though the origin is so stupid that nobody takes it seriously, he has to "stand up for our soldiers" and be seen. But really, does anyone in the Canadian Forces administration know who he is or care about him? no.

    Ignorant assholes.

"A total of 115* members of the Canadian Forces have died in Afghanistan between February 2002 and March 20, 2009. Of these, 97 were due to enemy actions, including 64 due to IED's or landmines, 22 due to RPG, small arms or mortar fire, and 11 due to suicide bomb attacks. Six Canadian soldiers died due to "friendly fire", while an additional 12 Canadian soldiers have died in Afghanistan as a result of accidents or non-combat circumstances; 6 in vehicle accidents, 2 from accidental falls, 2 from accidental gunshots, 1 suicide death, and 1 unspecified non-combat-related death.[11] More than 350 soldiers have been wounded since 2006.[12]

Also, every single one of the Canadian soldiers I've met--mostly in a peacekeeping unit in the Golan Heights--men and women, could physically dismantle every pussy on that set while downing a beer.

OK, normally I can laugh this stuff off with the rest of them, and I never get my tits in a knot about Canada-bashing, but it was just so xenophobic and ill-informed. Jesus, have none of them picked up a newspaper and read about what's going on in Afghanistan? We've been there since 2001 and have lost more soldiers per capita there than anyone else. Plus, we have a smaller population and therefore a much smaller army with not a lot of backup reserves.

Watching the footage from the show over and over has done nothing to diminish my disgust at the ignorange - I know it's Fox news and we really shouldn't expect anything better, but it's painful all the same knowing that if say, Rick Mercer or 'This hour has 22 minutes' were to critize the war in Iraq - even with correct statistics- hell and brimstone would rain down upon us north of the 49'th.
