The whole payment for linkage deal just goes to show what a wild west new media is. It's dirty, but because it's happening online, where the rules are being rewritten all the time, it's not as egregious as say, running paid content and calling it editorial. Though it's close. #andrewbreitbart

Deserves more page views.
(On which basis I assume Greg Beato is getting paid!) #andrewbreitbart

I cannot fathom why Drudge commands such fealty that he's the one the media mob look to for their cues. It's deeply strange herd behavior, I suppose.
Breitbart is just pure cretin, though. Glad you wrote this, fine work. #andrewbreitbart

He still gets traffic but I don't think it's influencer traffic in the same way it used to be.
I'm not saying I'm an influencer (or gold-digger) but I do know influencers. And I don't think people go there anymore.
Am I wrong?
And I agree that Breitbart is a simple villain. Drudge a more tragic figure. #andrewbreitbart

Drudge is stale as can be- amazing how an AOL account and a scoop on the Lewinsky thing can be parlayed into a fortune. DC insiders are incredibly conformist creatures of habit and the herd. It's rather clinical, this continued lavishing of praise on Drudge- who does no reporting of his own.
He repackages and cuts and pastes things to give it the most Republican slant possible. I forget who said, "DC is wired for Republicans", but that's never been more true in the past year.
The DC media loves to criticize every single thing Obama has said done, thought, wore, ate, relentlessly and every single day. The truly monstrous things that Bush got away with, some serious scandal, matters of war, life and death things, as well as the fiscal catastrophe he wrought- well, they're just good little Village soldiers. And Drudge is their mayor.
Tragic figure? Drudge chose whatever sad life he made for himself, and his career as ankle-biting GOP shill doesn't inspire much sympathy here. A closeted gay man activally abetting the party stomping on gay rights is something I find contemptible, actually. #andrewbreitbart

I'd venture that right now, the overwhelming majority of those who read him are just a handful of bloggers, those who were lectured during recent terms in j-school, right-wing opinion makers and a few people from non-thinking media. Otherwise, I'd say that his "influence" is the knee-jerk way reporters and anchor list him, whenever somebody asks about websites.
Though, you do have to give him (them) credit, if they've convinced Reuters to pay for worthless traffic. #andrewbreitbart

Now, who pulls the strings at Reuters, and who are their friends? #andrewbreitbart
