Didn't Tiger's mistress also have a fling with Derek? His taste in women are just as questionable as Tiger's. I'll give Jeter this, at least he has the good sense not to get married. He can chase all the tail he wants and keep his millions. Why give all that up just to project a happy, family man image?
I am one of the world's biggest Yankee fans and a fan of Derek Jeter but he never says anything of substance and his life is not "lived perfectly" but rather choreographed to look as if it is.
I could stand in for him in his post-game interviews which are completely content-free and repetitive.
Jeter does the image thing. Who knows what he's really like? We just know what his PR is really like. Perfect.
I like Arod not despite his foibles but because of them.
Derek Jeter defines that gross guy at the bar who looks at every woman in terms of what she'd look like under him. Sorry, not sure the word "perfect" comes to mind, but at least he's not married. Yet.
@manchops: So he's not Mr. Sensitive. He's smart enough to not ruin someone else's life by getting married where he knows he likes the smorgasbord out there. He hasn't beat any woman (as far as we know), fathered any out-of-wedlock children...In this day and age, that's as close to perfect as a multi-millionaire athlete is going to get. So if the worst thing he has is a creepy leer, great.
@A Message To Rudy: You are more than right on the marriage part. And I agree that he learned the rather valuable lesson of being a gazillion dollar athlete and always using the condom.
By the way, I wasn't exactly saying anything bad about him sitting at the bar. I'd certainly never turn down a glance from him...hell I'd pick up the tab
@manchops: Yeah, i didn't mean to come off as totally defending him being a bar hound. Just that this is what my standards have dropped to, I guess. I spent about 10 years as a sports writer for a couple of papers in Chicago and let's just say I've seen things. Someone like Jeter who knows he has it good and isn't in any rush to mess it up has become a breath of fresh air.
Took this one off the stove too soon. The real scoop will be how Blondie & Friends handle coverage when Jeter has a DUI/vehicular manslaughter, or is found poking a teenage cabana boy in the Caribbean.
@pollyannacowgirl: Hopefully you're waiting for the teenage cabana boy story more than the manslaughter story. I felt oogie just typing that the first time.
@unclevanya: That IS what I'm waiting for. I keep telling hubby that he bats for both teams. (Which he doesn't doubt, but I just want to get some credit when it becomes widely known)

1) where is that interview taking place?
2)what made Gretchen's dress vomit all over her sleeve?
3)why is there a marble pedestal for a seemingly thinner looking marble pedestal?
