    The New York Post has a long history of racism, especially when it comes to black performers. Specifically, they tend to call any black performer a "rapper," no matter who it is. My friend Rich wrote a really good piece about it, actually: [fourfour.typepad.com]

    @Matt Cherette: I was heading to fourfour in search of that. He may be your "friend" but he's my husband...as soon as straighten out some technicalities like making him dump the tattooed BF, moving to NYC, and seducing him.

    @Matt Cherette: That was a good piece and since I do not read NYP it was interesting to see who they cam a rapper- Jamie Fox? Seriously NYP not actor, comedian, singer or something about the Oscars but rapper. I cannot recall Jaime even trying to rap or doing skits as a rapper.

    I'm still trying interpret this part of the NYT report;

    "On the man’s body, police found a business card for a Virginia gun dealer, Gary A. Lewis, who runs Gary’s Guns & Transfers in Manakin-Sabot, a pair of villages northwest of Richmond.

    Hand-written on the back of the card, the police said, were these words: "I just finished watching ‘The Last Dragon.’ I feel sorry for a cop if he think I’m getting into his paddy wagon." The gun had been reported stolen in Richmond on Oct. 28, the police said."

    How on earth did they get those details, amazing. Manakin-Sabot sounds like a place out of Georges Simenon or something. Anyway, was the perp jotting down lyrics for his future inspiring raps or is that some lyric that I am supposed to recognize?

    I too noted the thrilled Irish tourist's reaction, maybe he's from Ulster.

    Actually her comment makes very real what I've always suspected about Australians.
