This is going to turn out like the gov. race where Shwarzenegger won, wasn't there like 219 candidates including Gary Coleman and that whore Mariah whatever...
The correct term is "slatternly trollop™". Spit it out with a British accent and the soft thud you hear with be Mary, the ever-eavesdropping Irish chambermaid, fainting dead-away.
Drescher? Lover her. And she's had cancer and probably has a clue about healthcare issues. Even though she could afford the co-pays and the thousands for meds after her breastcancer, at least she understands the panic of facing medical bills. (As I scratch my arse trying to figure out how to pay a $1500 COBRA bill since my husband lost his job last month.)
Jolie: Whatever.
Cyrus: She's waiting for Annie to join the Hustler staff.
@TroisFilles: The idea of Drescher had me admittedly WTF-ing at first, as I can really only think of her annoyingness on "The Nanny". But her running for senate is so, so much less ridiculous than the idea that Schwarzenegger is a governor. And you're absolutely right about the healthcare point; having some kind of experience in the system as a patient is necessary to truly understand what's wrong.
Unfortunately some people can't muster up understanding or empathy and then the wherewithall to DO SOMETHING about it until they are in the circumstances. I didn't know shit from shinola about being "poor(ish)" until life threw my family several curveballs, direct head hits at that. But I'd like to think I'd have empathy regardless. Families are drowning in healthcare decisions. Insurance is too expensive, co-pays and exclusions increase every year, deductibles get so high it's not feasable to see a doc because of the deductible, you lose your job and you can't get private or afford COBRA. The issues are monstrous. Older people can't afford their healthcare - it's frightening.
@TroisFilles: Seriously. I'm might lose my coverage soon and its scaring the living shit out of me because I have a pretty bad pre-existing condition. People should not have to choose between bankruptcy or survival, and that's that. If someone who understands this sentiment would like to serve in our government, then I'll be more than happy to support them.
@Pope John Peeps II: No, its not. Palin flat-out had no knowledge, curiosity, or real experience whatsoever when it came to world affairs. The woman didn't even have a passport.
Drescher didn't just get the flu or something - the woman had cancer, which requires long term extensive treatments, and expensive harsh ones at that. I don't think we are saying she knows every intricacy of the healthcare system top to bottom, but having an in-depth patient perspective would be an excellent qualification should she decide to tackle healthcare reform if she were elected.

Uh. Isn't this a thought pulled from Sarah Palin's "I can see Russia from Alaska therefore know foreign relations" school of expertise?
