@Calaverius: hey, any other music blog out there can bring you 'songs you're likely to hear if you go to a bar night djed by brooklyn-based bloggers.' i like to think of this as a more practical guide.

And in other news...Theodor Adorno has recently been observed turning in his grave.

@i'm a bottle: Why? This is exactly what he and Max predicted...

In fact, anytime I defend them, especially during a paper asserting that Adorno's "On Jazz" was a salient and pointed critique on Brecht and Weill's "Threepenny Opera," I'm seen as a hardass because Horkheimer and Adorno's criticism of the culture industry seem inescapable... Not that that's an invalid critique

@souldecirce: You're completely wrong to aver that "On Jazz" is a critique of Weill. In the same essay, Adorno (actually Hektor Rottweiler) explicitly states that Weill is interpreted as jazz by the public but "the rhythmic profiling of their [his songs'] melodies according to the scansion of the composed verse lines is completely opposed to the jazz method."

@effingminnow: stevie b transcends autotune. (wait, please tell me he doesn't have a new autotuned single out... oh no, that might be worse than his "spring love" remake featuring pitbull ...

    sigh.)

Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" is so '80s it could resurrect the ghost of Reagan. Oh awful--and I like Journey.

Good lord, I can that autotune on Kris Allen's track. It's practically a duet.

Alt track of the summer will be off the new Dexter Romweber Duo rekkid, Southern primitive brother and sister team that make a big, skanky noise, shames all cockrockers.
