    The supes are all very diplomatic (dipsomanic?) as they sit through hours and hours of such rants in Oral Communication every year. I watched their faces closely one meeting when our department had an agenda item, and one who spoke at length without notes or coherence elicited not even a raised eyebrow on the board. They were excellent actors, all, but then there is in our town much craziness on which to practice tolerance. The second most congested loony bin is Pacific Avenue downtown, the third, the Small Claims courtroom.

    It's easy to make fun of politicians, but on the other hand they put up with loons like this every day. Our council meetings are broadcast, and the public comments portion is often like the "crazy people" weeks of American Idol, and many come EVERY week. It's a wonder anybody goes into public service.
