What's with the Julia Allison fascination here? What makes her so interesting?

I had honestly never heard of this person before reading posts about her on here.

I've worked as a fundraiser for a nonprofit organization in a predominately Protestant, ruby-red state. The most civic-minded philanthropies I've dealt with are founded and administered by several prominent Jewish families. The Protestants (Baptists mostly) are shockingly disinterested in the well-being of the community. (I'm Roman Catholic).

@ekrub: In Judaism, tzedukah, or charity, is not optional, it is a commandment. If you are going to live righteously, you must donate and help in your community, and if you've got more than you need, you should endow, usually in memory of a loved one.

Wait, are you suggesting that the ADL's pointing out that the frothing antisemitism flooding the net IS NOT THE SAME AS COMMENTERS BEING THE NEW JEWS, because antisemitism has had historically genocidal consequences and that such a comparison is offensive? Because if so, how convenient for you and way to give the fascists publicity.

"The ADL is concerned that the Internet allows more people to read people's racist drivel. And yet it is spreading this same drivel far and wide through its publicity machine. Remember the ADL sent around a fundraising email with the subject line "Jews Have Ruined Our Country"? This is about as productive. Internet commenters spew anonymous vitriol for one reason: to get attention. And the ADL has just handed it to them in spades."

Foyst of all, they are doing this as a reaction. Fighting fire with even more fire, etc. Starting a backfire. Foytha moh, if you're going to use the ADL to divert attention from fraud you'd better have a pretty fucking big army of jr. PR pricks, because my little deceitful friends, the entire world has big noses now with plenty of bullshit receptors. There are two different things going on here -- one is a very real battle against racism founded on stupidity, the other is the use of an organization -- that bills itself as a fighter of racism -- to cover up a whole other pile of shit.
