    I couldn't be any more thrilled than I am with Obama's appointment of Rahm Emmanuel as Chief of Staff... he's a bulldog, he gets results, he's just generally BAD@$$...

    At least we won't have to wait 2 years for dumbshits from Austin (or Little Rock or Plains) to get up to speed on how this whole "getting things done in DC thing" works. Which, in case you're too dumb or too partisan to understand, is the point of this appointment. Do I like Rahm Emanuel? Not that much. Do I doubt he knows how to make things happen in that sludgy cesspool of a city? Not for a second.


    Unlike the last administration, this next one promises to be about competence and coherence, rather than ideology and profit. Buh-bye Bushies! Thanks for a whole lot of nothing.

    As my Congressman, his voting recorded, has shown nothing but a hundred percent support for the War on foreign Terrorism. I will never be convinced that Rahm is 100% for the American people.

    Is Obama going to repeal the Patriot Act and the Military Commissions Act? Is he going to put a stop to illegal wiretapping, to secret prisons?

    Personally, I liked this guy who played the Chief of Staff from that actually really interesting Commander in Chief drama with Geena Davis. (He actually plays Obama on the Little Britain show, in some weird twist of fate, alternate reality.)

    I always love when stuff like this happens, because it's fairly convenient for people to forget that if your parents lived in Israel at that time, chances are you at least knew someone in the Irgun, and might have decided to help a neighbor out because these were the only people who had guns that you could trust.


    Ironically, there are plenty of Palestinians who now have this same particular problem of associations and mixed up intentions.

    @Lymed in Cali: Bravo started showing the last season a couple weeks ago, usually 2 episodes a day (8 and 9 a.m.). I think Season One starts again next week. Watching the Santos-Vinick campaign and then the real news was an echo-chamber blast.

    Hear, hear. I've been re-watching the whole series via DVD since the beginning of the year, and as luck would have it, reached the final series about a month ago, and the last episode on Saturday night. Not to belabour a point made elsewhere, but the similarities are uncanny.
