I wish Heart went through with their threats when Palin kept using Barracuda over and over and over.. Just to give that lady a little more shit to deal with .. :[]
Oh stop it all ready with the girlfriend-beating tabloid fiction!
Here is a statement made by Lt. John Miehle of the Santa Monica Police Department in November 1992:
"The Santa Monica Police Department went to the house where Jackson Browne lives regarding a possible disturbance. We resolved the situation in about five minutes. There was never any assault. There are no charges pending and no prosecution sought by or intended by the District Attorney. It is this department's intention that no citizen, regardless of who she is, suffer any kind of abuse, whether it be domestic violence or any other kind of assault. But in this case, absolutely no assault occurred. Our investigators tell us nothing happened. Nobody has even alleged that Daryl Hannah was even touched. If they had, we'd be investigating. We're not hiding anything. The press is trying to make more out of this than there really is, and it's unfair, not just to Browne, but to us. We did our job, and repeat, no crime occurred here. This whole thing is ridiculous."

@Jamie Leigh Ogden: Yes, but it's just so much easier to make that allegation and go with the John-John kissed her booboos and made everything all right line.
Speaking of campaign music.... during the Presidential campaign I secretly wished Obama would have used 2Pac's I Wonder if Heaven's Got a Ghetto, because there's a line in the song about the country not ready for a black president. Supporters could have yelled, yes we are! (or yes we can) when the line in the song was played. I don't know why this would have been a good idea.
@Claire Buoyant: If I recall correctly, the Wilson sisters couldn't enforce their cease and desist because the GOP had actually paid for a license to play the song in arenas, or some such legal market-y, mavericky nonsense.
On the bright side, the song's other writer, the former rhythm guitarist, said that he would donate his share of the proceeds stemming from the GOP's use of the song to the DNC.
Sorry I can't find the source where I rad this months ago.

What kind of douchewad lawyer does McCain have? Freedom of speech is freedom from the government infringing on you, not Jackson fucking Browne. Or does the Bill of Rights mention him?
@JLynRedux: Based on spending way too much time with an IP lawyer, I believe copyright (and other IP protection laws) tend to have a lot of first amendment lawsuits associated with them. The theory being that the creation of the copyright is sufficient government action for a first amendment claim.
McCain's backup claim is that as a co-sponser of the first amendment, he can explain EXACTLY what the original intent was.
Old fart now has too much free time. Although the paradox of speech abridged by copyright and its implication in an anti-SLAPP case is novel; I mean coming from old guy lawyers for an old guy.
