I am uncertain about his future as a life coach, but fully approve his back-up plan to be the first African American spokes-doughboy for Pillsbury. #journalismism
Pardon me while I laugh until I piss myself. Talk about your totally pointless "professions". Besides, hasn't the recession pretty much done away with bullshit jobs like "life coach"?
Why am I reminded of Michael "Heckuva Job, Brownie" Brown, who attempted to open a security consultancy after being bounced from FEMA after his handling of the Hurricane Katrina response? Talk about some world-class cajones.
Seriously, man... what's the goddamn' deal with these people? They remind me of Gatsby's friends in Fitzgerald's novel -- paraphrasing here -- creating huge messes everywhere they go, then going on their merry way as if nothing happened, expecting someone else to clean up after them. #journalismism
@flugennock: "They were careless people, Tom and Daisy--they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or whatever it was that kept them together and let other people clean up the messe they had made..."
The operative condition being "money".
Plus I always inferred that Tom and Daisy were attractive. This guy, not so much. #journalismism
Re: Mr. Blair - dude needs to have a med check, because I think the Adderall is showing. I hope he knows that you're not supposed to crush or snort the time-released ones. #journalismism
...a profession that not only did I personally love doing, but that I value for society...
I admire his stepping up to the podium and trying to turn a bad into a good, but this quote? He loved it so much he faked getting the job done and he valued it so much he plagiarized others' work. He needs to choose his words more carefully if he wants to be taken seriously as someone who has done some soul searching on the wrongs he committed. #journalismism
@PaisleyPajamas: Remember Stephen Glass, Blair's brother-in-disgrace, who fabricated a billion stories, got caught, and then went on to pursue a law degree (ha!) and publish a contrite-ish biographical novel? Your comment reminds me of the reaction of New Republic's literary editor, Leon Wieseltier--Glass' former boss:
"The creep is doing it again. Even when it comes to reckoning with his own sins, he is still incapable of nonfiction. The careerism of his repentance is repulsively consistent with the careerism of his crimes."
"Careerism of repentance".. Now this is a fine, useful phrase to keep in mind. #journalismism
@adiam7: I wanna see Courtney Love interviewed by Glenn Beck! And the guy who believes in the shape-shifting giant lizard conspiracy interviewed by Ann Coulter!
@burbere002: How would I be able to tell the difference between the giant lizard ( in case the guy is legit and can do it) and Ann Coulter #journalismism
@DevilsAvocadoRedux: I was going to comment on that very verb. If "doing" a profession is your idea of correct syntax, maybe it's time to go back to school. #journalismism
I love this career path: do something unethical, become an ethics specialist. Last week, I got credit towards my legal ethics requirement for listening to Nixon's former lawyer discuss how not to be a crook. #journalismism
@Z und Vielpunkt's chick: It is the American way. Only the unethical can tell you about ethics, the unfashionable about fashion and the corrupt about corruption. #journalismism
Couldn't we call St. Augustine the first Blair-esque life coach? As I recall, Augustine's confessions are all basically "do as I say and not as I did," cus *that* guy was a *baller* before he found Christ.
Penn and Teller's Bullshit! did an episode on life coaching, and needless to say it was both sad and hilarious. The best ones are the ones who claim that an angel who lives inside of them is the one who's REALLY giving you life advice. Because if it's divinely inspired, you're more likely to fork over the cash!
