OMG. I resisted watching this because I thought it would be awful, but it's worse than awful. She can barely pronounce words "An Nay." She comes across as totally phony, a little creepy, and her voice and delivery are that of a boozy, smoked out 50 year old.

I've noticed an increasing number of positive Bush stories planted the press recently that are desiged to soften Bush's public image. This Jenna debut obviously forms part of that strategy. Don't be fooled people, just because Bush was not an evil genius, just an evil fuckwit, does not make him any less guilty of overseeing the decline of civilization as we know it!

A few years ago my favorite geighs and I were doing Sunday brunch to watch the political pundit shows when we caught a local news cast before George Stephanopolous. It was obviously a training situation for the anchor, who apparently had pissed off the entire crew in the studio. They were leaving her hanging in front of the camera, would cut to her waving her arms wildly (explaining why her voice sounded strangely strained) on the video packages and apparently fucked with the prompter so she had to read her blue sheets, which proved to be difficult--the actual reading, that is (mispronounced words, etc.). She, like Jenna, possessed that "I-drink-the- bong-water-voice," and we decided her daddy must own the station or her career was OVER. I have never been more remorseful for not having the DVR set to record. We nicknamed her "The Chubby Chearleader," (she was thin AND blonde) in honor of that girl whose daddy always buys her way in and often shared with each other what on-air shenaningans we had witnessed starring TCC.

Some time later, our jaws dropped as we watched the news coverage of the San Angelo, Texas, polygamy ranch raid in which the same effing reporter was doing live stand-ups for the evening national fucking news AND the cable networks. Yeah, she was more polished, poised and prepared BECAUSE SHE GOT AN OPPORTUNITY that others work their entire lives for and no matter how educated, talented and hard working, will never have.

Don't think this is the way it has been for a long time? Think about what a long list of "journalists" come from families of wealth and status in this day and age and think again.

Again, MSM journalism no longer aiming the gun at their foot, but have put the barrel in their mouths.

@PaisleyPajamas: I mostly come into contact with very young anchors, so I can't say anything about any of them who are over 35 years old. That said, I have yet to meet an anchor who actually knows anything about anything. The empty space in their heads where knowledge should be is breathtaking. One anchor in particular, for Pete's sake, sometimes when they are making snotty remarks to people such as "how do you even know that, you had to look it up DIDN'T you!" I want scream and hit them in the face repeatedly while they're on air. They literally, ever single time, when someone makes a comment about something they've never heard of (which is usually something that EVERYONE WITH A PULSE KNOWS) they accuse them of either being a fraud or being weird for knowing it. They even did this to the Managing Editor once, who just walked away.

They're underwear models wearing clothes that make them look more intelligent than they are.

@LutherHonduras: I had similar experiences as an intern at a multi-multi-news Emmy award winning station that completely turned me off to the idea of being a news producer. Who wants to work themselves to death trying to make narcissistic morons--who place "Do Not Disturb" signs on the women's bathroom door while they trowel on their make-up--look well informed?

You guys sure you want to use something like "Reports for Reporting" in your headline? I'm not usually picky but that headline is hurting my feelings with how bad that is. It's like that hacky reporter stereotype from Hot Fuzz wrote it!

I don't care about Jenna Bush having a fluff job on the Today Show because she is just interviewing people for happy bunny rabbit stories, unlike other political daughters of no intellectual capacity I could name who are actually trying to influence opinions and policy with their "journalism" so good on Jenna.

@allyzay: Jenna is about as qualified to do this job with her Party Certificate from UT, as I am to be a brain surgeon with my journalism degree. It's been a long, luxurious road for her to never have to worry about the competition and she still sucked rocks in this package.

Fun fact: Jenna won a debate competition during her years at Austin H.S. that was so obviously fixed that people still snicker about it. I'd venture to guess hearing her fumble her way through questions on The Today Show is going to bring back a lot of memories for some.

If Dubya managed to get himself elected President and Palin chosen as McCain's running mate, anything is possible. There's nothing the ruling elite like more than a malleable puppet in high office.

I heard that not-Jenna is working in New York for Transportation Alternatives (the we-love-bicycles people). She goes by Barbara Pierce so that people don't instinctively want to stab her. Her father must be so ashamed, to have raised such an obvious communist.

I work in media alongside people who went, and I just want to ask, "Does it bother you that I'm two years younger than you, didn't have to pay for or work my way through grad school, and we have the same job and the same salary?"
