The vast majority of Spike Lee films have not really been any more or less controversial than any other modern auteur-type films. People base their opinions on "Do The Right Thing" without looking at his entire body of work.
"Recalled the rascally O'Reilly:" is a sentence that is seriously harshing my mellow. It's like a disabled puppy who speaks New York Post trying to leap over a fence. And failing. =(
Sometime around 2003, I was washing up
and just about to leave the men's restroom in the cinema at the Pentagon City Mall, when I noticed a line had formed in the bathroom that extended all the way out into the lobby, consisting of fifty people or so. Just as I was musing on being part of a demographic consisting of white males 25-50 as I left, a black guy in the lobby bravely addressed the line saying, "What ch'yall doin'? Votin' for Bush?
I think this will work fine as a way to cathartically work through our anger issues over the abuse of children and our own faulty criminal justice system as long as we don't know too many actual facts about the case.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Bridgette Crafton read a statement by a girl who was raped by her father as a 10- and 11- year-old and whose videos Malakoff downloaded on his NPR laptop computer. The girl, who is now 19, described the horrors of her childhood. She said the pain she suffers will be with her forever.
"Each person who has found enjoyment in these sick images needs to be brought to justice," she wrote. "They are dangerous and even though I don't know them, they are hurting me still. They have exploited me in the most horrible way. Please bring them to some real justice."
@DocHolliday: I know! And you'd think print/web reporters would know all about how to produce professional television segments. Also: The best place to park inconspicuously was where we parked.
To quote an inspirational, anti-fear t-shirt I once owned, "Go big or go home." Block the car, get him as he's leaving the Fox building, post this and vow to keep on coming until you get an answer on camera...anything but this weak sauce (and the unearned "we showed him" moralizing to boot).
If you really cared about the moral high ground, you should've just slept in. Playing a scumbag's game by a gentleman's rules is bound for failure.
@Parker Lewis Lost: So does your courageous comment about the work that we did count as going big, or going home? Feel free to find him and "go big" any time you like. I'm not concerned about the moral high ground so much as generally disinclined to go around behaving like a dick. If that's your sort of thing, have at it.

That for me, was a perfect moment.

Biillo: Hee hee, Spike baby, go easy. Papa Bear wants you to leave some for Stephen who's coming over later to discuss health care.
