I'm sad today, knowing that this beautiful, regal man is gone. It's like seeing an aged member of your family pass, and knowing that all your knowledge, history and personal connection to the distant past has quietly walked out the back door.

I picked up Toni Morrison's latest and read it in nearly one sitting, then I went to find my Maya Angelous, Langston and James Baldwins again. Just need to feel my people again.
Also, another good historian of African American life, particularly of the Harlem Renaissance: Cheryl Wall of Rutgers University.
