Funnily enough, I initially learned this from Paul Krugman's blog.

* Housman - major classics scholar, minor Victorian poet, subject of 1998 Tom Stoppard play The Invention of Love.
Sorry, other than the gay-sex-diary connection, this is just not topical, not at all.

I studied economics at Oxford and even at Oxford he is studied but widely reputed.
But I wasn't fully aware of the hot gay sex until now. Can we get someone to turn that into a full length movie?

And Keynes was at Cambridge, thus it is no wonder to me that he is "repudiated" at Oxford. Cambridge has always been far more Keynesian (read more left-wing), whereas U of C and the LSE have been more oriented towards economic liberalism (right-wing orthodoxy). Where does Oxford sit in this scheme? Ideas, thoughts?

@BadUncle: He self-Ketched in protest at Sheila's being laid off I believe.
@Colonel Mustard: Really? ADS was a Keynsian? I'm just going to pretend that he said those crazy things in the same spirit as Nixon said we're all Kensians - the lying spirit.@

Whoa. When the hell did that loveable capitalist pig bastard cut his own neck? Yesterday?
Come back, ADS. We need more Iggles fans around here.

Now, let me tell you what's wrong with the financial derivatives. Also the financial integrals and the financial quadratic formulas. Also who had the bigger C, Keynes or Friedman. You learn these things.

Though "In the long run, we're all dead" is probably one of greatest things ever said in economnics (besides all that econometricisy stuff and other things that help the economy grow).

Keynesian economics have been the dominant force, uninterrupted, in US economic policy since the 1930s. Guys like Friedman have been blips on the radar, who gently nudged the pendulum ever so slightly in the other direction.
Just saying.

But he was talking about the hot gay sex, of course.
