Oh, John Norris. I still can't believe I ran into him near his apartment in the EV while he was high as a kite and begging to do my friend ... e-gads. And I grew up watching him interview pop stars on MTV.

@Cameron L. Mitchell: Similar deal: he stood in front of me at a concert (in Williamsburg, as it would happen), and alternately thrashed around and snuggled up to everyone nearby. To be fair, I imagine that getting laid off from your VJ gig at like 45 could cause you to take a bunch of stuff I wouldn't dare ingest.

I used to like this column. I can't figure it out now. But I'm one of the olds.

JN is the invincible cockroach of cable news, he always lands on his feet. I was shocked to discover he was still on MTV when I accidentally stumbled across the TRL finale. He's actually not such a bad guy. A little cranky, but he's not insufferable. He used to date my male best friend back in college, so I can confirm his predilection for twinks. How will he impress the boys now?

Oh but don't worry kids, you can still see LC bat her eyelashes at vacant Audrina and The Ikki twins spreading gonorrhea to men and women.

    Happy Holidays MTV!

At this rate, MTV's going to have nothing left to show except music videos.

I was hoping they would bring back Tabitha Soren to Rock the Vote again this year like she did in '92. I guess they figured Obama would win without her so they couldn't justify the expense.

I know we are all having fun here, but I gotta say - I was part of the big "mtvi group" bloodbath in 2000. I've seen a few .commer boats go down, and they always at least throw you a lifesaver in the form of severance, two months is pretty much the standard - what did mtv give me after paying a full relocation? two weeks pay, and my pay was nothing compared to my expense checks, and guess what - everyone in NY has worked there, so it's not even impressive on your resume (the reason everyone take the paycut) and they always pull this shit in the middle of really bad winters when you don't even want to shave, let alone get that interview suit out and start hitting the pavement.

Oh, and they always kill off the higher ups first, they don't like to promote internally, because then they have to increase pay. They'll just get some 24 years old bloggers to do the same jobs for half the pay.

@PrudenceLinglewood: Also, note that if you happen to be on a year-by-year contract, you do not get ANY severance, even if you are full time and appear to be staff. Sadly, I know this from experience.
