I'm sure this dude is an awesome journalist, but he basically admits:

    - he works at a snail's pace and doesn't give a shit about wordcounts

    - he's fussy about how editors run his stories (I DEMAND A THREE PART SERIES. GRRRR.)

    - he admits most of his stories are about the three rather esoteric topics of interest to HIM.

Basically he's that guy in the newsroom that at least half the other reporters resent and every single editor hates working with.

@Botswana Meat Commission FC: Bingo, except for one thing: ALL the reporters hate his guts.

Is he thanking Hilary Stout in absentia or is she back at the Journal? Is he still paralyzed? Was it a city bus, school bus, Greyhound bus or NJ Transit? Are 3M employees allowed to spend 15% of their time on Gawker?

That email leaves me with too many unanswered questions.

I've applied for a journalism fellowship and plan on writing a book about disability, about the 1990 bus accident that broke my neck and initially left me a quadriplegic. I'm excited.

Oh that sounds like a fun read! Not mind-numbingly depressing at all!

@Botswana Meat Commission FC: It's available in a children's version as well. One Fish, Two Fish, My Accident, Oh Shit.

Ironically, this e-mail was originally going to be three parts but it, too, was cut from the three he'd agreed upon to two to one.

    The real reason he's leaving?

Every time Mark Penn walked past his desk, he would throw a quarter into Josh's latte.
