There's literary magic to be found inthe 500 or so clips I've amassed on City Council meetings, angry NIMBY neighbors and cat hoarders.

If Kafka had not worked in an insurance office and been exposed daily to the absurd and dehumanizing aspects of industrialism (such as industrial accidents, decisions about how much a human life or a limb is worth vs. faster production), it's likely his writings wouldn't have been nearly as influential, prescient, interesting.
