They NEED each other in order to have a villain, grow a following, build their ratings, and command high salaries. Don't believe the hype. #keitholbermann

Whys is it "right-leaning" Fox and plain-old MSNBC or CNN? Yes, Fox tilts to the right. However, MSNBC and CNN tilt to the left too. #keitholbermann

@Gawkerati: CNN tilts to the left? You're kidding. What anywhere else in the world would be considered center-right at most gets considered "left" here. Meanwhile, yes, MSNBC skews mildly left in terms of its overall editorial viewpoint. But neither even approaches the level of totally ideologically-driven propaganda at which Fox News consistently operates.

However, even that is beside the point, really. Because my problem with Fox isn't that it's conservative. They have every right to be as conservative as they like, if they'd only be honest about it. What they don't have a right to do is to consistently misrepresent opinion as fact, misreport events, and create news, while pretending to be a "fair and balanced" source of information. #keitholbermann

@MissNormaDesmond: I'll agree with everything you said, but lately MSNBC has been more than listing to the left, especially in primetime and though CNN has lost some of their lustre due to budget cuts , I'd still put them closer to the middle of the road. #keitholbermann

@MissNormaDesmond: Totally agree. And keep in mind that both Shuster and Matthews routinely interview the most insane far right assholes as people having legitimate political opinions. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you former Bush/Cheney bag man and total nutcase Frank Gaffney, who famously said this year that Saddam Hussein was behind the Oklahoma City bombing. There is no corollary to that on the left, none. That's just insane.

@Mediahohoho: I've never seen Olbermann cry when discussing republicans, the way I see Beck cry when discussing Obama. I feel like crying every time that "person of color" John Boehner opens his mouth.
People can call MSNBC "left leaning" but they regularly give Pat Buchanan airtime for his crazy old time republican nonsense, and Joe Scarborough (un)Fair his own show. The best that Fox could do was let Alan Colmes meekly defend the left from time to time. #keitholbermann

@MissNormaDesmond: You are either blind, deaf and dumb...or I don't know what. MSNBC is 'mildly skewed' to the left? Have you ever watched the tv channel before? Olbermann is going to be getting the Nobel Prize in 2010 for "Righteous Liberal Indignation". Closely edging out Maddow. But not to worry, Ed Schultz, David Schuster and Chris Matthews are total right wingers. #keitholbermann

It's called Invidiocy, and it works. Sometimes. However, when Henry Kissinger had his 700-page alibi coming out at the same time as Eddie Fisher's autobiog, he sought to dismiss as a lightweight the former husband of Liz Taylor, and it didn't catch. Nobody read Henry's masterwork. Boo-hoo. #keitholbermann

Biden was the most inscrutable choice, ever, for VP. Instead of "change" Obama brought out an old hack, who had trouble with both truth telling, even during the campaign, and with inserting his foot into his mouth. Oh, to know what kind of negotiation that was, to get him on the ticket---except, perhaps to allay terrified old white guys who feared a woman and a (half)black man on the ticket would bring on the apocalypse. #joebiden

Joe Biden is everything thats wrong and fucked up with congress. This dope won his seat in the Senate when he was 29 and has never had another job until being VP. He has learned about as much about how the country works from his perch in DC as Palin learned about Russia from staring at it. He is walking proof we need term limits.

And he doesn't drink. I don't trust people who don't drink, unless they've already been alcoholics. #joebiden

Why is it that I feel compelled to defend Gawker's subject matter against the editors/writers at least once a day lately?

Either this new crop of staff writers is utterly fucked, or the editorial direction has taken a nosedive, or both.

Is there some negative correlation between the quality of stories and the quality of AJAX/CSS? #joebiden

Not sure what point you're trying to make, Amrita... that you think Cheney's worldview makes some sense? That Cheney was initially popular, before everything he did brought his popularity rating to a low of 28%? I love it that Biden is willing to call a moron a moron. Five bucks says more than half of you have not a clue about living in this utopian mecca you've made universal health care out to be. And yet, somehow, you wear this hilarious conviction that it is the answer.

Having practiced at an NHS hospital in Manchester, UK, I'll tell you no system is perfect. And, newsflash, whether you're talking about Denmark, Sweden, UK, or Canada there are brazen inequities.

No one is actually entitled to anything in life. No one TODAY is innately entitled to care from a doctor anymore than people were thousands of years ago (ohhh, all those uninsured cavemen and women! how did they do it?!) . We've decided we'll fight for people's rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Fair enough. But I'm not going to fight for your right to demand that a doctor treat you. As cold as it is to say, the frank reality is it's not a human right.

The truth of the matter is we have a system that, for all its flaws, works for most. There are free-market solutions to address cost and aid the uninsured and under-insured. If you don't want to hear it, you don't want to hear it.

@crooked_teeth: What exactly are those 'free-market solutions' to aid the un and under-insured? I DO want to hear it (I mean, you had the space). The emergency room? That's the only one I can think of and that's hardly any kind of real 'solution', medically or economically. And you're fine 'fighting for people's right to pursue happiness' but not health care? Well guess what: people tend to be pretty unhappy when they have a toothache for two years because they can't afford to go to a dentist or go bankrupt because they were in an accident or have to sell their house to pay for their child to have a heart operation. And if basic health care isn't a human right in a civilized society I'm honestly not sure what is. (How do you feel about the fire department?) Not to mention: what exactly is this "right to life" you're fine fighting for (begrudgingly, apparently) if it has nothing at all to do with health?

@crooked_teeth: Ah, yes. The Fox News method: start with a premise that's a complete lie, and you get to say anything! Fun!

But anyone with firing synapses is bound to realize that nobody thinks universal health care will be a "utopian mecca."

They *will* argue, however, that it absolutely *is* a human right. And you might mount a reasonable argument against that idea -- but nothing you said actually addresses it at all. You basically just used several dozen words to say "me no like universal health care. And also, Liberty good"

The reason that what you say sounds cold (basically, "I got mine, and everyone else can go to hell") is because it *is* cold. Heartless, really, but also clueless. Come back in 15 or 20 years and tell us how well the system is still going for "most."
