    I named my first car "Falkor". There isn't enough gin in the world to make me watch any sequels. Why didn't they just turn it into a crappy animated series drawn by slaves in Korea, same as all the rest of the hits of the 80's?

    I have to say that after this thread I find the whining about the inevitable inadequacy of this remake is a whole lot less tolerable than the actual prospect of this remake.

    So to sum up: in the last few days I've read about remakes of The Neverending Story, The Dark Crystal (though I think this is supposed to be a sequel), Arthur, Total Recall, a Live Action Thundercats Movie, Adventures in Babysitting and a remake of the best movie of all time, Clue.


    The worst part is that it's likely members of the generation that grew up with these movies who are at least partially responsible for this.

    New version: Rapping granny who demands you bust a rhyme to pass


    Old version: The Childlike Empress

    New version: The Slutlike Empress

    You're so right -- kids are unimaginative little pussies these days. Make them sit through a film like Labyrinth or the Dark Crystal or The Neverending Story and they'll piss their coddled panties and complain about nightmares to their child shrinks who'll then prescribe them low dosage Zoloft.

    @guitarsnob: If it makes you feel better to think so, sure. My 5 year old watches all of that stuff. Forcing your kid to watch old DVDs al the time helps save a bundle on cable!

    They look like big, good strong hands,don't they. I always thought that's what they were. My little friends: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, even The NeverEnding Story. I couldn't hold on to them. The studios pulled them right out of my hands. I failed.
