    I loved the Choose Your Own Adventure books but I always seemed to die. So I would cheat and make sure I finished to book in the best possible way.

    @GoEliGo????: I remember there was one where you could be hacked to death with a hatchet. My first-grade self was somewhat disturbed by that.

    @Dr. Nick: Yeah, there were many unpleasant ways to die in those books. Drowned, shot, stabbed, eaten by wild animals, starvation, dehydration...loved those books, though.

    @Atilla the Bun: Yeah, we'd play them during break with one person reading the other's fate. And the peanut gallery providing even more exaggerated descriptions than the books provided. Much more gruesomely satisfying, that way.
