In my mind, he'll always be that dude who wasn't Bruce Lee who was supposed to be the star of Kung Fu. Of course, David had nothing to do with that decision, but still. It broke Bruce's heart and it breaks mine.
In "Kung Fu" reruns, he always seemed cool, but in a very campy way. I don't think it was until much later than any of us discovered he was actually cool.
But if you have a chance, I recommend that anyone watch Bound for Glory, the 1976 film in which he played Woody Guthrie. He's unexpectedly amazing in that role.
He has so many projects in postproduction right now, he had been working all the time evidently.
Mr. BL interviewed him one or two times, he was a gentleman and could talk about any topic under the sun. A fascinating actor. I think the first movie I saw him in was Death Race 2000. This is a terrible loss.
@rudi_freude: In high school, I had a friend who would often ponder aloud whether or not X celebrity or historical figure was actually still alive, and without fail, within a week or two, said person would die and be in the news.
I sincerely hope you are not secretly her, because if you are, Mr. Walken better get his affairs in order tout de suite.
Oh, crud. That sounds just awful and yet strangely not surprising. I dunno. He always seemed like some sort of inner tortured soul. Maybe it was the roles he took. Or maybe it resulted in the roles he took, either way, farewell thee Caine.
