    I used to work on several of those books in the dear, dim past. E & P did exceptional reporting, and Adweek was quite the lively and informative read, as well-written as any consumer book. Blessings on the E & P and Kirkus people, and good luck to everyone else under the new owners. Stay safe.

    Wow. Admittedly, I've never read E&P, but having worked as an Editorial Assistant in a publishing house, I'm having a hard time imagining the future of book publicity without Kirkus. So incredibly sad for all the people this move is leaving jobless, and for the fact that this downward spiral is seemingly endless...

    @DahlELama: E&P was pretty superb, or at least that's my impression from the many articles I've read on their site over the years. For them and Kirkus to be shuttered really is kind of shocking. Not great for emerging authors to have fewer places where an influential good review could make a difference, like with Kirkus. Really sad, yes.

    @elinorwhyme: Dorkiest reply ever, but that is exactly how it feels, the crumbling. I was looking at the wall of bookshelves I am lucky enough to have in my apartment and thinking I wonder if I'm in the last generation to have that. So grandiose but sad. Also sad because I need a new career.

    The money for Billboard is in the charts, not the publication, if I understand it correctly. Perhaps he'll quit publishing the mag and turn it into a sales-analysis company directly marketing its services to interested parties (record companies, etc). At least that's what I would do. But then, I'm sitting on my bed in cut-offs in the middle of the day, so what do I know?
