Unless the casting director refused to audition actors with disabilities I don't see what the problem with talented Abigail getting the role.
Just like I don't have a problem with Will Smith playing roles originally written for a white men. If he had to wait for roles written for black men, he would get a period piece or bio-pic once in a blue moon and Tyler Perry's movies. That's it. #helenkellerabigailbreslinReply
@nyc-caribbean-ragazza: Ding! This was my argument when people got up in arms when Chinese actresses played Japanese women in Memoirs of a Geisha. Were Japanese actresses considered? Or were they adamantly discriminated against? If not the latter, I fail to see the huge problem. Same here. #helenkellerabigailbreslinReply
I remember that. Plus the history between the two countries made things worse.
Casting can be controversial like when Jennifer Lopez was cast to play Selena. Once the movie came out people relaxed. Also, there wasn't a Mexican-American actress at the time who could act, dance and greenlight a movie. J.Lo was barely a star at that point. #helenkellerabigailbreslinReply
@nyc-caribbean-ragazza: Some people wanted Salma Hayek to play her because she was the only high-profile Mexican actress at the time. However, Salma is Mexican, Selena was American, and it would've have sounded ridiculous in the scenes where Selena says she can't speak Spanish well with Salma's natural accent saying the words. And Jennifer Lopez resembled her and brought out a joyful exuberance that captured Selena's spirit. #helenkellerabigailbreslinReply
I know there are so few roles for women of color. I wish instead of pitting actresses against each other we could make the pie bigger...more roles, more opportunities.
Today's lesson? Murcielagos get you girls in their underwear. With a Gallardo you have to settle for girls in their PJs. And you can tell she's thinking about getting all spread-eagled on that boot lid.Reply
1 MacBook (also running Ubuntu, XP, Windoze 7 via Parallels), 2 Powerbooks 12" (have been too lazy to sell them, one of them will go in a week on eBay if I manage to exchange the bloody harddisk) #macvspcReply
@effgeevee: And Gideon. Man, I miss Gideon. I was all depressed was watching some old episode and he's giving Reid a pep talk in that gentle, soothing Mandy Patinkin voice and there was nothing I wanted more right then than a pep talk and a hug from Jason Gideon. #menontvReply
@effgeevee: No, because then Fat Tony would have done me a favor and I would owe him in return. And you never want to owe a mafia boss. Better a favor from Inigo Montoya, who will befriend you and invite you to join his life of good-time piracy. #menontvReply
@vulcanized: You know, you're right there. But Airheads-Joe can use his radio and music-biz connections to denounce Fat Tony and perhaps even send him to jail, as well as giving Dread Pirate Roberts (Inigo Edition) good press, enabling him to visit for Adventurin' whenever you like.

These are always so early in the day! Can we move this feature back a few hours to give all the west coast readers a chance to be funny? It's 2 in the afternoon here, and the caffeine is JUST kicking in. #commenterquipsReply
So much for this game having "...commentary about consumerism and what is truly important in life." No, wait - maybe the moral is that we are quite as materialistic as we should be! Like that twilight zone episode when the aliens were going to destroy the earth if we didn't improve our warlike tendencies (after a rush to enact world peace, the aliens actually wanted us to be a warrior planet). Can I get a Hallelujah? We already have the 8C in the USA, BTW. Bring The Brera the 159 and the Sportwagon! My new 500 better say Fiat on it. #chryslerfiatReply
