Biden was the most inscrutable choice, ever, for VP. Instead of "change" Obama brought out an old hack, who had trouble with both truth telling, even during the campaign, and with inserting his foot into his mouth. Oh, to know what kind of negotiation that was, to get him on the ticket---except, perhaps to allay terrified old white guys who feared a woman and a (half)black man on the ticket would bring on the apocalypse. #joebiden

apparently I am in the minority, but I love Joe Biden! I think he's like the lovable Steve Urkel of the White House. He comes in, says stupid stuff, knocks shit over, and is like "Did I do that?" Oh Joe. #joebiden

Joe Biden is everything thats wrong and fucked up with congress. This dope won his seat in the Senate when he was 29 and has never had another job until being VP. He has learned about as much about how the country works from his perch in DC as Palin learned about Russia from staring at it. He is walking proof we need term limits.

And he doesn't drink. I don't trust people who don't drink, unless they've already been alcoholics. #joebiden

Why is it that I feel compelled to defend Gawker's subject matter against the editors/writers at least once a day lately?

Either this new crop of staff writers is utterly fucked, or the editorial direction has taken a nosedive, or both.

Is there some negative correlation between the quality of stories and the quality of AJAX/CSS? #joebiden

@Motoko Kusanagi: Oh yeah, I didn't mean to quibble. I agree that the site gets fancier all the time, but features seem to break often. I should have added before that it could well be my OS and browser causing headaches most readers don't experience. And in all fairness, I haven't been reading long enough to judge contemporary content against the past. #joebiden

Not sure what point you're trying to make, Amrita... that you think Cheney's worldview makes some sense? That Cheney was initially popular, before everything he did brought his popularity rating to a low of 28%? I love it that Biden is willing to call a moron a moron. This is a ridiculous post. #joebiden

I'm absolutely NOT a supporter of ANYTHING Dick says... but, Good Lawwd, Biden, Bin Laden will always BE a part of the issue. I'm sorry, I guess if you had the prez saying this I could understand... but, uh, Joe? Nope.

That being said, why are we posting crap from Fox News anyway - I thought we weren't supposed to take this stuff seriously?

I guess the people who argued over keeping a pedophilic album cover on Wikipedia have some obscure moral standard.

@Joe Rider: Other religions have done some good too, and for better or for worse, did their part (over the centuries) on the path to what we have and what we are today.

Meaning: you can't just open up a bunch of store fronts and hand out a bunch of pamphlets and say "we should be given the same respect as Christianity".

I am anti-religious, but I'll give it to major religions: we have to put up with them... history is history. But fuck me if I'm going to accept to deal with a brand new pain in the ass with absolutely zero history to back it up. I don't want to hear about this Scientology shit, period.

Scientology is the stupidest made-up religion ever. Worse than the fucking polygamy loving, counterfeiting founders of Mormonism. Tom Cruise and Travolta should get the hell over themselves and come out as the gay power couple they secretly crave to be. Who on earth takes their messiah complexes seriously? I guess they have their heads up their assholes so far they really believe this badly-aging, bargain basement sci-fi pulp bastardizing America's freedom of religion, that this crap has a shred of credibility. It's the worst kind of opportunism, foisting a laughable mix of 1950s Martian mania and drugged out hippie "spirituality" on the mentally ill and wannabe actors looking to blowjob their way inside the industry. The fact these people have somehow bribed their way into tax-exempt status is a shame on America's rights and traditions.

I can never quite pinpoint just how I feel about Ol' L. Ron Hubbard. Part of me knows he's a giant asshole, performing home-abortions on his wife in front of his children, protesting psychiatry out of his own warped personal experience, in which psychiatry was an enemy working explicitly to destroy everything L. Ron ever made. ([www.xenu.net] Operation Clambake presents: The H-files, consists of all the letters Hubbard wrote to the FBI in his lifetime, note the egotistical paranoid madness! It's all commies and conspiracies!)

Another part of me is completely 200% jealous. There are lots of people out there who would love to create a religion and not have the competence to do it. In his reality, maybe he was right! He died with a fierce following and left behind a cult enamored in his image, preserving his twisted words and beliefs, even reissuing them to mask some of the original vitriol and hate of Hubbard. He didn't just hate psychiatry, he hated the gays, and had a genuine distrust of minorities!

So am I jealous of Hubbard? I don't know, not really? It must be nice though, to have people treating you like Jesus and then giving you their money! Is he any wronger morally for selling an invented contrived religion than our priests and rabbis? It's as though his madness gave him an evolutionary advantage, something we try to medicate out of our society turns out to be advantageous for some people!

Asshole, Entrepreneur, Faith Leader, Evil Megalomaniac, Paranoid Schizophrenic, Father, Prophet. How many of us can pull that off?
