The repug witchhunt, tripped by Linda Tripp, was a disgusting display of trying to remove a sitting president for "high crimes and misdemeanors" when what he did is not only nothing of the sort, but a thimble compared to the ocean of criminal behavior that was to follow in the next administration.

The immediate impression many get upon seeing Linda Tripp of 'truly clueless female impersonator' is nearly as quickly followed by doubt that reveals a deeply sexist thought-
"Could a transvestite or purely vocational female impersonator possibly perpetrate the crimes of fashion of a Linda Tripp?" Without it being deliberate or camp?

As someone who voted for Clinton twice, I'll tell you he's a piece of shit for what he did and if it weren't for Ms. Tripp, we would never know the details about his unfaithful and unpresidential exploits.
If her only crime was being a disloyal friend of Whorica Lewinsky so the nation could know the truth about this scumbag, say what you will, I'm a fan.. ;D

Of course, I hate Bush just like the next guy and I know it's hipster to long for the Clintons and all (I did vote for him), but that is something I just can't give him a pass for, sorry. Lewinsky scandal = fail.
Again, I voted for the guy. I guess cheating has become so commonplace and it's now so forgivable, even when the president himself showcases such immaturity and douchebagginess.
Call me naive but I really do have much faith Obama will not be like that at all.

Say we find out a few months in that Obama was gettin' it on with some girl and the details were shamefully blasted all over the place like the Lewinsky shit was. Even if the country was running fantastically, tell me that you wouldn't have just a wee bit of disappointment and shame in your heart to hear of it. None of our business? Maybe. Would that make me think differently of the man -- with Michelle and the kids in the mix? -- Absolutely.
I'm curious to know your thoughts on Elliot Spitzer and if you offer him the same amount of sympathy and defense for his privacy, or are you glad his misdeeds were exposed?

Ok, all, I acknowledge Tripp's sad and hapless maneuver and her haggard appearance and perhaps I crossed a line calling her a national hero, even though it was a little funny to throw that around casually. It was a silly accolade to give to someone who looks "like a bag of smashed assholes" (as a Gawker commenter put it in 2007). So this, I will concede.
But! I just cannot seem to endorse these guys in the same light as I once could before knowing they're fucking cheaters. There really is something to be said about John Edwards, Elliot Spitzer, and Bill Clinton who are all in the same group of dudes who just can't handle their shit and are not satisfied by their relatively attractive wives (way much more so in Spitzer's case) and stupidly fuck around so casually to where it is bound to get exposed -- always in a most embarrassing way. It's the worst kind of lying, and I just don't get how a lot of people can shrug that off so easily.
