It's a good thing nobody ever does that in regards to Judaism. I'd thank you for killing Jesus, and would be happy to discuss the outrageous beliefs of some sects of Christianity, but unfortunately I've left my motion-sensitive exterior lighting on and have imprisoned the Hasidic couple across the street in their house for the past 2 days.

@Bitrex: All Christians base their faith on the so-called Old Testament, which is part of the Jewish Torah. All Christian theology requires the human sacrifice of the God-in-man Jesus Christ. If those are the sweeping generalizations, then I stand by them — as does, incidentally, every Christian.

I do not understand why it should matter for your sake whether the couple across the street should be stuck inside their house (it would be only one day, by the way, from sundown to sundown).

I am sorry if I offended you. I made a comment that was supposed to be inflammatory and outrageous, but also, more than anything else, rhetorically entertaining. I always expect Gawker readers to be too jaded to be offended by anything.

Actually, I think the term is "too liberal" to be offended by what another person says.

I don't understand why not being offended by what other people say is always linked to being "jaded." It's actually a very optimistic thing.

Since they were out protesting during school hours, it looks like they've worked in lesson plans on hate and homophobia for their own home-schooled children.

Has anyone else ever seen the BBC documentary on these people. They sent Louis Theroux to live with the family for three weeks (the "church" is comprised of two or three bloodlines); really powerful stuff. These people are completely disconnected from reality. Head Phelps sounds completely senile and everyone else seems to be going through some kind of Stockholm syndrome experience with him (supposedly he was a vicious abuser when the kids were small). The best part was when they were out picketing along a highway and a driver threw his drink out his car window, hitting one of the younger boys. The boy, probably around five years old, started crying and his... I want to say mother but it's so hard to tell with these people, ran over to him, screaming about how appalling some people can be; fascinating

They truly enjoy having people shake their fists at them, honk at them, yell at them, etc. The best thing to do is ignore them. They love ANY attention, but they never give off a firearms vibe, if you get my drift. My husband is a criminal attorney and he's worked with one of the female Phelps attorneys as opposing counsel and he said despite her crazy-ass lifestyle, she's easy to work with. Go figure.
