    Somehow he managed to give southern justice a bad name. But I don't think it's quite right to call this idiot a judge. From what I can tell, justices of the peace have significantly limited powers by comparison. [www.courtreference.com]

    Louisiana Code of Judicial Conduct, Canon 3(A)(4):

    A judge shall perform judicial duties without bias or prejudice. A judge shall not, in the performance of judicial duties, by words or conduct manifest bias or prejudice, and shall not permit staff, court officials or others subject to the judge's direction and control to do so.

    As one half of an interracial couple, I'm sad to report that this sort of racism (anything from odd looks to downright yelling at us in the street) is more frequent than you might imagine.

    For what it's worth, though, it does seem to happen with considerably greater frequency when we're in the South. #keithbardwell

    @ithacabaron: As a (sort of) New Orleanian in exile, I saw what parish this came from and honestly, I'm not surprised.

    Oh, and this was in Senator David "A Regular Customer of Hookers" Vitter's old congressional district. So...yeah.

    On a personal note, I can't even imagine the hateful, horrible shit that must come your way. I'm sorry that humanity can suck so badly.
