i was a reporter at cnbc for 8 years... had my share of dust-ups with management... but the basic fact remains: in the u.s, TV is ad-based. the bigger the audience, the more $ you make. if cnbc management doesn't do what it has to do to maximize viewership (air programming that brings 'em in), it is considered failure. it's something that the "media savvy" on here need to remember. does most "news" coverage anywhere suck? yes. don't like it? change the system. lobby Congress. I wish you luck. Truly. No sarcasm. But please do a little analysis of why things are the way they are before you get on here and carry on. thanks. garrett glaser, glasermedia.com
@MurdockAnchises: Wait ... are you saying that its a choice between offering responsible fiscal advice and real financial journalism OR bringing in eyeballs? I'm sorry, but that's bullshit. Especially because even with the notoriety Mad Money gets, it still does a 0.3 rating or some shit like that. Let's not pretend that millions will turn off their television if all of a sudden CNBC begins to actually do its job.
He thinks this was a mere bump in the road. now I hope Stewart becomes obsessed with him until he cracks.
The market went up the last couple of days because Madoff went to jail. Traders love to send en-masse messages. Which is why this is all more of a game then even Stewart realizes. And why it will ruin us.
@lobstr: I find it hilarious how meek and easily neutered he was in front of Stewart, and a day later he's back to his old loudmouth "expert" self. I can't imagine how anyone who's seen a smidgen of that interview could watch this and think anything about this guy is for real anymore.
This is why I've put all my money into Trans-Atlantic Zeppelin, Amalgamated Spats Company, Congreves Inflammable Powders, US Hay, and the up-and-coming Baltimore Opera Hat Company.
