But more troubling to me is most of the clothes. They're incredibly "ghetto." What happened to aspiration? Just because you're poor doesn't mean you want a doll that looks exactly like you (supposedly). The Cinderella doll comes dressed in a gossamer ball gown, not in rags.
I'm no Barbie aficionada; was there a "White Trash" Barbie? These then, would be the black counterpart.
These Barbies are "more horrible." White Barbie gets a convertible and a house in Malibu. Some of these black Barbies look destined for their very own street corner.

Advertising and the movies love the image of the beautiful, helpless, naked woman on the brink of being assaulted, sexually or with a knife (Psycho). I can't think of a similar image of a man.
