    If you look at anything in pop culture today, LGBT want nothing more than to be the MOST mainstream as possibly can be,..maybe when LGBT are less concerned with American Idol, Top Model, Top Chef, Top Designer (is that the right Bravo show?) Anderson Cooper, US Weekly, being an actor, being a model, hair products, fashion clothes, etc. etc. etc. maybe the rest of America can take their arguments to heart. I support equal rights for all, including LGBT, however, many times they seem to have their interests tied up with some very superficial values...

    I was at the protest in Boston today, the Facebook event had 5,300+ confirmed attendees but I don't know how many actually showed up. There were a few "WTF California?!?" signs, but my favorites were probably "Adam & Eve, Adam & Steve, Who Gives a Shit?" and "Give Me A 50/50 Chance At Happiness"


    Mine said "Equality is a Right not a Privilege" on one side and "Everyone Deserves the Opportunity to Screw Marriage Up Like the Rest of Us" on the other.


    This little girl and her little brother were both there protesting along with their mom:

    Hey, all you Gawker-reading Texans. I didn't realize there were so many of us.


    Ok, so I'm in a very small town so, alas, no rallies. But here is a story that is sort of heart-warming in a fucked up, backwards sort of way.


    I was at a bar the other night and the bartender is gay. He told this story and it was funny, ha!, and then he left to go make his rounds. The two guys sitting next to me had this conversation:


    Guy 1: Oh, yeah, (bartender) is cool. He's cool, man. I don't have any problem with him...or anyone, like any gay dude, ya know? I mean, a lot of people think that gay people are, like, pervert, molesting, degenerates...and, like, that's only a very small percentage of them.


    (Downlow thinks to self: Do I say something?)


    Guy 2: Well, yeah, dude, but, like, that's for all people. Like, not gay people, but a small percentage of all people.


    (Downlow is just a little proud of the two rednecks sitting next to her, because, shit one is trying and one seems to get it.)
