    My BFF and his boyfriend of 6 years agreed to split up. It was fairly amicable. They toughed it out while the boyfriend looked for a new apartment, taking turns sleeping on the sofa.

    I was surprised they lasted that long. The sexin' was infrequent and lousy, the boyfriend was the slob half of the Odd Couple, and they wanted different things out of life. Plus, the boyfriend cheated (and ultimately got what he deserved, as you will see.) But it seemed to work ok for a month or two.

    Until! The boyfriend returned home early one night and was surprised to find candles, a used ashtray and two empty wineglasses in the sink.

    My buddy (whom I still call "Helium Heels") was abed with a rather goodlooking Craigslist hookup, sexin' away with Hard Mechanics 2 on DVD a-playin'. Fortunately he was able to 'fess up, get the boyfriend to take a walk, and kick the craggy Craiggy to the curb without them actually seeing eachother.

    He remains defiant. And I got him a gift certificate to The Red Roof Inn for Christmas.

    @BookishLookish: Nothing wrong with that. You also have to remember I'm currently living in a culture where married women/girls in long term relationships are expected to be unfaithful once in a while. Nobody is judgmental about it.

    What I find amusing is that my partner (and several other of my female friends) have told me that if you are female and over 30 Courgared is a wonderful way to boost your ego - despite how ridiculously cheesy the site design is.

    Beware. I have heard that private investigators can use ashleymadison as a means to gather evidence or worse, "create business". I have no idea if this is true or not, but I have dealt with a handful of PI's and this is something I would not put past them.

    I vaguely remember a story in the news a few months/year ago where a woman would blackmail the men she met on a cheaters website (I believe one man was blackmailed more than once, until he had enough!).

    We misbehave the old fashioned way. I try to hook up with girls who comment on my blog and/or hit brothels and she just lets guys she likes know she's not in a monogamous relationship.

    A variation of this happened about four years ago. One of my friends had just gotten dumped in a really, really bad way.

    He was in one of those "I'm never going to be with a girl again" modes of freaking out.

    So, we took him to Barcelona, got him drunk and then took him to my favorite brothel.

    While he went off to one of the back rooms with a cute blond thing, my gf and I drank beer and watched the strippers/live sex show.

    She then realized she had a mini crush on one of the working girls - but was too shy to approach her myself.

    Being a gentleman I went up and talked to the girl for her. She explained that she didn't do girls but could suggest several other girls for my girlfriend.

    I told my lady this, but she was hell bent on this girl. So, she asked if I would ask the girl I could do her while she watched - because my girlfriend really wanted to see this girl getting sexy.

    The downside (and I will regret this forever) is that I'd been drinking since 5 p.m. and it was now like 3 a.m. and I was unsure if my equipment would work.

    So, I passed - on the one and only time in my life that a girlfriend will ever offer to pay another girl to have sex with me.

    @drunkexpatwriter: I could be very wrong about this b/c it was explained to me by someone from the UK about the functionality of French affairs, but, they work so well b/c of discretion? i.e., the person having the affair would be mortified to learn that they had been caught out & would end the affair immediately. Family always comes before the affair and so feelings are never so badly hurt that the relationship can't recover (of course there are always exceptions). It's considered poor taste that the spouse would carry on an obvious or disruptive affair. Is this only for marrieds, just a myth, or is there any truth to it?
