"Until recently, raids on clinics typically led to federal prosecutions, but Cooley's remarks and similar ones from Attorney General Jerry Brown signal a new approach "
So you are saying that local police were making busts too? Do we have evidence of that? The post talks about "Heavily armed officers in helmets, bulletproof vests and, oddly enough, Bermuda shorts..." but doesn't say if this is LAPD. #weed
"...the LAPD, with support from the federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has undertaken multiple raids on legal marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles County.
These raids reached their zenith and sparked public outrage when, in late August, a task force of LAPD, DEA, and FBI agents raided two marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles and Culver City as well as the owners’ houses. "
TRUFAX: Number of dispensaries within walking distance of my apartment: 3.
Number of Starbucks within walking distance of my apartment: 0. Though I think one of the "green-cross" businessesses near my apartment sells venti-size bags, so I smell a cross-marketing opportunity. #weed
One would think The Feds would welcome the opportunity to refocus their attention on situations that are significantly more detrimental than some mellowed-out stoners sparkin' a J. #medicalmarijuana
It's a shame Clinton made it easier for Bush to go after medical marijuana despite its legality by doing the exact same thing for nearly four years.
Stupidity is a gateway drug. Power is the end addiction. The whole war on pot started out as a way to benefit off Mexican immigration in the 30s and is now nothing more than a sop to the corrections industry today. What a ridiculous suck off the resources of local and national law enforcement.
Legal loopholes indeed. Within a one mile radius of my apartment in LA there are at least 7 dispensaries. There used to be a place called "Temple 420" for religious adherents, but it closed about a year ago.
