    Biden was the most inscrutable choice, ever, for VP. Instead of "change" Obama brought out an old hack, who had trouble with both truth telling, even during the campaign, and with inserting his foot into his mouth. Oh, to know what kind of negotiation that was, to get him on the ticket---except, perhaps to allay terrified old white guys who feared a woman and a (half)black man on the ticket would bring on the apocalypse. #joebiden

    Joe Biden is everything thats wrong and fucked up with congress. This dope won his seat in the Senate when he was 29 and has never had another job until being VP. He has learned about as much about how the country works from his perch in DC as Palin learned about Russia from staring at it. He is walking proof we need term limits.

    Either this new crop of staff writers is utterly fucked, or the editorial direction has taken a nosedive, or both.

    @Motoko Kusanagi: Oh yeah, I didn't mean to quibble. I agree that the site gets fancier all the time, but features seem to break often. I should have added before that it could well be my OS and browser causing headaches most readers don't experience. And in all fairness, I haven't been reading long enough to judge contemporary content against the past. #joebiden

    I'm absolutely NOT a supporter of ANYTHING Dick says... but, Good Lawwd, Biden, Bin Laden will always BE a part of the issue. I'm sorry, I guess if you had the prez saying this I could understand... but, uh, Joe? Nope.

    A politician being nasty to a reporter? The horror. They should be having tea and biscuits together on a daily basis. Come on people.


    And who gives a shit if he's disabled or not? It's an amateur move to leave your tape recorder away from your person. It should've been on the reporter.


    Asking for an apology is just ridiculous. If he weren't disabled, would there be this outrage? If the answer is no, then it's a disservice to disabled folk everywhere for there to be outraged. They ought to be treated equally, except where alternate accomodations are required due to disability. Being a jerk off who leaves his tape recorder somewhere he can't access it and not putting it on lock or whatever has nothing to do with being in a wheelchair.

    Awww, I love the way he claims he's gone "above and beyond" for the reporter by giving him "transportation in a special van and wheelchair access around City Hall."


    He really thinks that providing someone with the absolute most basic requirements for what they need to do their job (i.e. to get to the building, and to get INTO the building) qualifies as "going above and beyond."


    Geez, you'd think HE HIMSELF didn't arrive at City Hall in a vehicle designed and built to the specific needs and functions of HIS body.

    PLEASE don't use the phrase "wheelchair-bound" to describe Harris. it's terrible journalistic form. say he "uses a wheelchair," not that he's "bound" or "confined" to one. i'm a journalist with a physical disability too, and i hate that this is seen as ok.

    @hndinglove: I once covered a something-or-other story about new wheelchair ramps and came back to the newsroom face a-reddened from the scolding I got from saying "handicapped person" instead of "person with a handicap". I told my editor and he just said that you'll never, ever please everyone so stick to common usage.

    @shavethatsoulpatch: He is an imperious little dick. He wants to be mayor forever. I personally have 0 problems with removing term limits, but that's something that MUST be decided by voters. His argument is that this would take a special ballot which would take too long and prevent him from being on the ballot for mayor. My argument is 'tough shit, shoulda thought of that earlier'. You know, the argument everybody but billionaires get in response to any request for a little lee-way or help.

    @Harry Pelotas: No, because he's overturning it for every mayor hence, not just him. People are voting for him. Don't conflate voting for him and voting against term limits. He had his chance to do this legally, he missed it, so he just bent the law, IE: he's an imperious little dick.
