    @depardoo: He's obvs a hipster, but what kind of hipster? The sloppy, sad, slopes-loving McKibbin kid? The arrogant trust fund Beacons Closet barnacle? Or the genuinely successful sleeve-toting Brooklyn Artist who's terrified of admitting that his shit will never be seen in the Tate Modern?

    My money rests on the last one. Witty to those who speak his own language, but childish and asinine to most everyone else.

    I'm going with the two Dark Horse possibilities:


    1. They're moving to New York. You'd be surprised how quick they slap these shows together, and Jon looking at apartments in New York ain't nothin'.


    2. They're canceling the show to move forward as a family. This is probably the 1,000,000:1 bet, but it's the one everyone wants. You have to put stupid hope out there, you know?


    Also, can we get a "Cultural Oddsmaker" tag on this?

    A very well-considered and well-written piece, and I'm pretty obsessed with slang etymology (my bf just yesterday had a summit on the dif btwn "gah" and "dah"), so yay for covering this topic.


    Howevs, I think I have to disagree with some of the premise. My job requires me to fraternize with a lotta pipsqueaks, and I've noticed a marked decrease in their cynicism over the last year-ish -- and a precipitous drop since Nov. 4.
