Hmmm... I'm trying to recall if the same phenomenon for pop-cult films happens for pop-cult lit: The more cliche the title, the worse the product therein, a marketing scheme to create a built-in audience through identification with the title for other reasons than the book.

The fact that I can't think of one single other book title that is this cliche tells me that yes, this is probably true.

"true-life glamour girl Cornelia Guest." Only Liz Smith could write that, she really stopped caring about anything after 1987 or so.

Unless that is Photoshopped and/or some serious Cirque du Soleil action. And maybe then.

Coincidentally, this is also what you would get if you asked Peter Arnell to rebrand Chiclets.

Shittalking Paula Froelich on here is kind of like calling Dr. Bombay or sending up the bat-signal as far as Spiegs is concerned...

This sounds like it should be the title for a Vonnegut novel rather than chick lit...
