Haha, the dude threw a shoe. Way to really cement that backwater image...what, did they run out of chickens to throw? Probably did, come to think of it.

    Oh and he missed. Twice.

@zibby: Throwing your shoes is a huge insult in the culture. It was intentional to throw a shoe rather than another object.

He wouldn't have missed if homeboy hadn't ducked - both throws were squarely aimed to hit him in the kisser; it's why Bush ducked.

The interwebs are saying that because we all feel so bad about fucking up Iraq like we did, and know we need to win back some hears and minds, January 19,2009 is now Official Throw A Shoe Over The White House Fence Day.

There's safety in numbers in people. Also, bigger laughs, and better shots for CNN.

But if we freeze at frame 54, we distinctly see a shadow on the grassy knoll, wearing only socks. You'll also notice that the second, "magic" shoe ricocheted several times around the podium, in defiance of the laws of physics. Several empty shoeboxes were found near a window in the adjacent book depository.

Bush is proudly bringing both shoes back to the White House to show them off to his cowboy chums, just the way he does with Saddam's unloaded gun.

He looked pretty nimble when he dodged, I'll bet Laura throws shoes at him all the time.

I'm still stunned that someone could throw a shoe at him, bend back down and take off a second shoe and throw it before you see any Secret Service react at all. I'm amazed that he would be in Iraq in front of a huge crowd of people (even if they are known reporters) and not have any real protection at all like a bullet proof screen.

If that had been a hand grenade (or two) can you imagine what President Cheney would do?

And I feel for that poor sob who did it. I can understand the desire to do it and the anger, but he's a goner I'm sure.
