    Two thoughts:
    1) Well, this is better that their characters screwing on the show and brother and sister in real life. (ie. Jason and Justin Bateman).


    2) When it comes to family gatherings, sometimes I'm glad I'm adopted. Obvously, I'm kidding.

    Angelina Jolie and her brother made out at an awards show once. Between that and the Billy Bob blood vial I can't take her seriously no matter what she does. I'm fairly convinced she's a little bit insane.

    Donnie and Marie Osmond once played their own parents in a TV movie. They got to replay the moments that led up to their own conception.


    And everybody knows Greg Brady did his own mom.


    So from a TV history perspective, this is isn't all that weird.

    (Symbolic) incest has been around in mythology for thousands of years -- e.g., eddic mythology like you see in Wagner's Ring Cycle (totally incestuous) -- while the real thing was obv strictly verboten in practice. According to CG Jung, it basically represents a cultural projection of the (incestuous) desire to find our inner "self" (i.e., a merging of the male/female). File under: psychobabble Sunday.

    What about The Royal Tenenbaums? I was lukewarm on the movie throughout, thinking, "Why do people love this movie?" Then they killed the dog and brother and (adopted, but whatever) sister got it on, and I decided I hated it.

    And on Guiding Light, there was a storyline about a guy who purposely didn't tell a girl he was his cousin, so he could deflower her in order to get revenge on his mom for abandoning him when he was a baby. But then they fell in love and she died.
