After England's home secretary Jacqui Smith barred Savage from entry for "seeking to provoke others to serious criminal acts and fostering hatred," Savage went crying to Hillary Clinton for help. He's also preparing a defamation suit in England against Smith, and he apparently expects all overweight conservatives to endorse an invasion of England over the outrage. Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly apparently haven't been amenable, so yesterday he lashed out:

Amongst all of them, [Limbaugh] is the biggest fraud. Rush Limbaugh is a fraud. When he was accused of the drug usage, I supported him. But that man is a one-way street. It's all about him. He's in it for nobody but himself.

Limbaugh wasn't exactly "accused" of drug usage—he copped to it on his radio show and submitted to random drug testing to avoid prosecution. Still, we feel for Savage. Who could have imagined that Limbaugh is so self-involved and uncaring?

<![CDATA[Michael Savage Banned From the UK]]> Who is banned from entering the UK for reasons of extremism? Fred Phelps, KKK grand wizard Stephen Donald Black, neo-Nazi Erich Gliebe—and talk show host Michael Savage!

The British Home Office released a list of 16 people banned since October so that everyone knew exactly what sort of things the English don't cotton to.

"If people have so clearly overstepped the mark in terms of the way not just that they are talking but the sort of attitudes that they are expressing to the extent that we think that this is likely to cause or have the potential to cause violence or inter-community tension in this country, then actually I think the right thing is not to let them into the country in the first place. Not to open the stable door then try to close it later," Ms Smith said.

Now it may seem a bit odd to place right-wing talk show host Michael Savage on a list with the leaders of a Russian skinhead gang who've killed at least 20 people, but just because in our nation he is considered perfectly acceptable for nationally syndicated radio doesn't mean he's not just as extreme and bigoted as your average workaday Hamas MP. And Savage tends to be just a bit nuttier than the rest of the talk radio pack, though Glenn Beck is really trying his best.

But here in America we give you a pass on this sort of thing if you say "just kidding I am but a mere entertainer" every so often.

<![CDATA[Denis Leary Denies Autism Too]]> 82683934.jpgFor some reason Denis Leary, who is actually an accomplished TV and movie star and halfway-decent comedian, has joined with reliable moron and talk-radio screamer Michael Savage and misguided trashy-TV host Jenny McCarthy in spreading scientifically-dubious pap about autism. The charitable explanation is that Leary was rushing to meet the deadline for his book, Why We Suck, or, as all-too-many comedians do, filling it with unfiltered, subliterate transcriptions of experimental new stand-up comedy material when he wrote, "there is a huge boom in autism... because inattentive mothers and competitive dads want an explanation for why their dumb-ass kids can't compete academically." The Autism Society is obviously thrilled. More, via Page Six:

They throw money into the happy laps of shrinks . . . to get back diagnoses that help explain away the deficiencies of their junior morons. I don't give a [bleep] what these crackerjack whack jobs tell you - yer kid is NOT autistic. He's just stupid. Or lazy. Or both.

Why do comedians insist on putting this sort of slapdash material in books? Maybe it kills in front of a bunch of drunks in Vegas at 2 in the morning, but it's painful to page through it on, say, the subway. Plus there's a written record of the offensiveness/idiocy!

<![CDATA[Michael Savage's Homo Hippie Past]]> Michael Savage, the fag-hating radio host who thinks autism is the parents' fault, may seem like your typical blustery foaming-at-the-mouth neocon bigoted piece of shit. But Radar suggests that that's not necessarily so. I mean, yes, he's a neocon bigoted piece of shit, but one with a hippie past. Well, enough of a hippie/beatnik past to have been friends with Howl scribe and confirmed sodomite Allen Ginsberg. They wrote letters, long ago in the animal soup of time when Savage was Michael Weiner:

Dear Allen:

After speaking to you on the phone about how nice the black-white thing is in mountain villages in Fiji, I walked downstairs to the school courtyard, where a little-known black brother looks at me, takes my hand gently, we do some old-world Lower East Side finger tricks, and he peacefully kisses the back of my hand—I do the same for his hand. I told him about our brief talk, and he says, "I must have felt the vibes."

Michael Weiner

That's from 1970. Radar also mentions a rumored-about photo of Ginsberg and Savage swimming naked together in the balmy waters off of Fiji. Oh hoooooo. Were he alive today, I wonder what Ginsberg would say about this batshit zealot who was once his friend, long ago. Probably something about the best minds of his generation being destroyed by madness. I'm with you in Rockland, Allen.

<![CDATA[Michael Savage's Brave Stand For Personal Responsibility]]> It might be better if people protested right-wing radio talk show host Michael Savage on those rare occasions he said something reasonable. It's getting too hard to keep up with the phoned-in shock and outrage whenever he wishes gays would die of AIDS, Muslims would quit the continent, or parents of autistic children would realize — as he told them to yesterday — that "In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. ... They don't have a father around to tell them, 'Don't act like a moron. ... Act like a man. Don't sit there crying and screaming, idiot.'" Or at least go on the air and make money doing it. Sounds like someone's overcompensating after reading about how much Limbaugh's pulling in. Many angry moms and dads lined the street outside Savage's WOR building in Manhattan today, calling for his termination. He in turn maintained a posture of defiance, then issued the following "clarification" on his website:

My comments about autism were meant to boldly awaken parents and children to the medical community's attempt to label too many children or adults as "autistic."

Just as some drug companies have overdiagnosed "ADD" and "ADHD" to peddle dangerous speed-like drugs to children as young as 4 years of age, this cartel of doctors and drug companies is now creating a national panic by overdiagnosing "autism, for which there is no definitive medical diagnosis!

Many children are being victimized by being diagnosed with an "illness" which may not exist, in all cases. Just a few weeks ago doctors recommended dangerous anti-cholesterol drugs for children as young as 2 years of age! Without any scientific studies on the possible dangers of such drugs on children, corrupt doctors made this controversial, unscientific recommendation.

Fat-assed, mollycoddled toddlers. Where's Daddy to smack the little bastards thin?
