The Michael Viner who just died was indeed the Michael Viner who (along with several session musos) gave us the ever-sampled Incredible Bongo Band.
On tap for next year at Phoenix (if it survives Viner's death) is a memoir of Norman Mailer by his mistress, Carole Mallory, who would have been in Gawker every day if Gawker existed thirty years ago.

As long as this does not refer to the Michael Viner of Michael Viner's Incredible Bongo Band.

Unfortunately we need guys like this in a free speech society. I don't want to be him or buy his crap, but I think someone has to publish the garbage if it has an audience.

@ChillbearLatrigue: I seriously doubt his death will create a vacuum in the "garbage" sector of the publishing world. Gene Simmons also has a tv show. Never underestimate the number of people willing to supply us with all the garbage we want to read and watch.

@ChillbearLatrigue: That's why the entire Simon Spotlight Entertainment imprint exists. Who else is going to bring you Hot Chicks With Douchebags?

Hamilton, you missed the 'best' one: You'll Never Make Love in This Town Again.

Reminds me of the editor who paid me good coin to write a novel about a woman primate researcher who got knocked up by her gorilla. Damn. I thought tht the days of sleazo publishers who'd throw cash at yu for despicable manuscripts were over. What's this guy's number?
