In reply to Joe Scarborough: Obama's Egypt Speech Forced Ayatollah's to Fix Iranian Election
I'm baffled why anyone thought this election wouldn't go to anyone but Ahmadinejad. And really America shouldn't act like we're above this kind of thing--we had heaping helpings of it during the 2000 election didn't we? And really the one in 2004 wasn't squeaky clean either.

I don't think Obama's speech mattered a whit, that thing was fixed from the git-go.

And this sort of intellectual honesty is one of the reasons we like Joe Scarborough.

    What?

@thatonegirlsays: Look, I've said it before and I'll say it again...I don't always agree with Scarborough, but in the realm of Republican talking heads the guys is one of the few out there willing to give credit to someone from the other side when credit is deserved, as well as criticize his own party and not just spout whatever ridiculous talking points get disseminated by the party leaders.

Again, I'm not even sure that I agree with what he said here, but at least he's willing to say it, which is something you'll never see the Sean Hannity's of the world doing.

So if nobody is afraid of Mousavi winning the election, why was it rigged and why is he under house arrest?

@DaveDavies: Because in America's desperate struggle to spread its love across the globe, this counts as democracy.

Nice. Stephen Gaghan would be proud.

@Foster Kamer: Maybe Gaghan helped Obama write the speech!
