Oh my god. I love you guys.

The other day I tried joking around about hipsters on Jezebel, and was met with a brutal PC attack from what was apparently the hipster rights movement, lecturing me on how I was such a horrible person for being so judgemental against them. All I had said was that they are apathetic. It was the most bizarre thing I've ever experienced.

Owen, thanks for even more tips on places to avoid in SF.

(Although I have to say that the Lower Haight has been avoidable in its own right for some time now).

And according to the SF Examiner, out Mayor now keeps his followers up to date via Twitter. The Exam says he's made a "big splash recently". What that means in Twitter terms, I can't say.

I grew up in Dallas and lived in Austin much of my life. People who wear cowboy boots outside of remote places in West and South Texas, places where horses are involved, are easily identified by natives as "people from not around here."

Jeebus, what if you live in NYC but you're from Texas and you wear boots because they're comfortable, go with jeans better than anything, and can be resoled and worn forever unlike the fucking Chucks I see all the hipsters in? Does this still make me an annoying hipster? It's not like I'm wearing them on a date with Chloe Sevigny to a MGMT show at McCarren pool or anything.

@thucyditron: I don't know.... I'm from Arizona originally, and unless you're actually a cowboy who works on a ranch or whatever, people out there don't really wear cowboy boots. That being said, people from the desert southwest who wear cowboy boots in NYC are, at least in my experience, hipsters. When I tell some of my friends from AZ that so-and-so wears cowboy boots now, they usually cringe at the sheer hipsterdom of rejecting an entire childhood of fashion resentment. I don't wear them, and I'm totally a hipster too, but I'm just saying.

@BaconCat: I was born and raised in Phoenix and never once have eaten salsa with corn in it. I'm sure it's out there, but not at any amazing drive through Sonoran Mexican restaurant. God this whole conversation is making me want a burrito, I haven't eaten Mexican food in the 7 years I've been here and it's wearing at my very soul.
