@Uncle_Billy_Slumming: It's a still from a home movie Michelle Malkin made of herself jumping up and down on a trampoline in order to demonstrate that, like global warming and evolution, gravity itself is a liberal hoax because no matter how much she jumped and jumped and jumped, her uterus didn't prolapse into her knee socks like an aborted kitten.
And they wonder why journalists don't read their blogs for news value.
I'm guessing most of those journalists have read Malkin's blog once. But it's kind of like going on a blind date with a boring, stupid loser; you chalk up the time spent to open-mindedness, and firmly resolve to spend your hours more productively in the future.
There are conservative blogs offering real news and analysis? Where? Once the "Obama is a Communist Muslim, Bill and Hillary Clinton are responsible for everything wrong with America" crazies are eliminated, what remains?
@City_Dater: That was my reaction. It's hard to imagine any serious media outlet giving real consideration to frothing xenophobia and religious crusades as a viable counterpoint to actual politics.
Reading MichelleMalkin.com is like rubbernecking at a psychological 10 car pile-up on the freeway. You know nothing good will come of it, but you can't look away.
Talking Points Memo features original reporting and analysis from a liberal perspective. MichelleMalkin.com is the crazed rantings of a racist psychopath. This is like saying "twice as many journalists read The Weekly Standard as pay attention to the Black Hebrew Israelites who hang out in midtown."
Current score late in the fourth quarter: China, 25; Burma, 14. Burma's going to need a hell of a hail mary onslaught to catch up. Cuba's team is putting up a good fight though, and I think they're the team to watch if you're looking for an exciting season-ender.
The U.S., with no wins (read: imprisoned bloggers) in 2008 barely even made it out of spring training with a team. What kind of fucking police state do we live in anyway?? Actually, maybe U.S. bloggers just think they're more radical and challenging than they really are.
@lastcigaretteme: Or maybe US bloggers don't talk about anything of significance or anything the state needs to be worried about. We "commodified our dissent" every since the first Che T-shirt hit the market. There hasn't been any serious challenges to state authority in America since armed Black Panthers were threatening to shoot back.
Not to be all seriousy, but, in the US, at least, part of the issue is that MSM journalists work for organizations that have First Amendment lawyers on call, and who will fund what litigation it takes to protect reporters' privileges. There are a lot of worthy non-profits, like EFF, that will step in to help bloggers who don't have such resources themselves - problem is, those non-profits usually don't get involved until something has already gone awry, ie, after a contempt citation has already issued. The lawyers for bigger news organizations are good at making sure those contempt citations won't get issued for their own folks in the first place.
Could this be attributed to the fact that years of working in darkened rooms hunched over glowing screens has contributed to the average blogger's love of child pornography?
this chart is totally useless because it doesn't indicate the total number of people covered by the pie chart (if only a small number of people are covered the specific percentages carry less weight)
125 is such a low number that creating a pie chart doesn't offer much guidance....when the number is that low the percentages can be expected to vary significantly from year to year
@BadUncle: Unless it means that the media are imprisoning people. Which could be the case. I understand that Katie Couric takes scores of hostages daily.
