His name is Danny Wood. He lived right behind me growing up... taught him how to throw a football. He was the cutest little kid, but yes, seemed to lack parental guidance. His siblings were much older, and he was pretty much left to himself. Wow.
Is Gawker's commenting system broken today? I have just been repeatedly notified of approving many comments that I actually didn't, no offense to any of the commenters.
As for the burned and tazed guy, all I can say is: I wanted to make a 'tazed and confused' joke. But I felt like a total douchebag about it when I realized that I am typing this from the comfort of my living room and I'm eating a delicious breakfast and I don't have to worry about where lunch will come from.
What is a punchline really worth when I'm getting a snicker out of a situation where some human being who has no home, and is probably too ill to have a grasp on basic reality, has now been also physically injured?
When did Gawker get so sanctimonious? First off, that story IS funny...that's the straight up truth, and you know yr all over eBaumsWorld trying to find the actual tazering tape. Secondly, the Fox reporter isn't being particularly snide -- that's how they report everything! Have you watched them talk about the Obama health plan?
Hey, Fox news-douches, guess what? 1-4 homeless people, 33% of the homeless male population, is a veteran. Way to support our troops, Fox news-douches!
@if_i_only_had_a_heart: You're slogan needs work. You're giving Fox too much of the credit. How about "Laughing at the government's barbecuing of homeless people. Fox News?" It's not really my type of thing, but it's more honest.
@Hockeymom: Well, the first is a given, but the second one isn't. And that could have been the beginning of the road that led to this.
Sad either way, that he's reduced to a giggle for the evening news.
"What that means for your weekend, next."
Fox News' response was born of cynicism, after all. Of course we're all somebody's child, brought into this world with such great hopes. But the reality of a 7-billion-human planet is that most of these dreams are worthless and plenty of mothers die disappointed in the wastes their progeny become. Fox News is laughing at the burning corpse because, well, isn't it sort of hard to be sad anymore about the endemic poverty and failure of the human condition? I almost prefer laughter to the constant sensation that life is a terribly disappointing thing, but that's just me.
@Unsolicited Advice: But I think what we may be forgetting is that homeless people deserve to be set on fire. In this case a tazer was just the quickest route there. I guess my point is, if someone wishes not to be set afire then said person should just get a job.
@Unsolicited Advice: I really don't think Fox News was laughing through the pain here because they just couldn't bear to spend any more time being sad about "endemic poverty" and "the human condition." I think they were just being insensitive assholes.
@Unsolicited Advice: Just because I don't like Fox News doesn't mean my criticism has no merit. A shitty, insensitive news segment is a shitty insensitive news segment, regardless of what network it airs on.
In fact, if I was watching the CBS evening news or Rachel Maddow or Olbermann, and they did the exact same segment as this one on Fox News, I would probably be more mortified by it. With Fox News, I've come to just expect this sort of thing.

The Conversation ages ago.
But yeah, Fox yet again proves why they were so shocked at Obama's empathy comment. It's not an emotion they are at all comfortable with.

Right, but like most folks who read this site (going to guess here!), you hate Fox News. It's hardly surprising that you have that interpretation.
