I'm still wondering why no one noticed Chief Justice Roberts screwed the pooch when he tried to administer the oath of office. Obama had to correct him twice and he still didn't get it right. Much as in his kooky decisions.
As Obama took to the platform prior to being sworn in, he paused to shake B. Clinton's hand and leaned in to say, "Dude, this is last time my wife is allowing me to talk to you. Ever."
@The One: The Nobel Prize committee, for one. I think it's pretty inarguable that his post-presidency has been the best and most productive of any of our four living ex-presidents.
@kabamli: Well, of course. That's why it's so odd.
@Xylo: True! The reason I ultimately rate Carter higher is that he's using his influence to engage in the type of diplomacy that has unfortunately been feared by every president since him -- up to, I hope, now.
@The One: Hmm, he promoted conservation and didn't start some hideous war that cost untold lives and dollars. Oh yeah, and he actually speaks with remarkable sanity concerning Israel/Palestine.
@eatsshootsleaves: I'd ask why both Clinton and Carter have gone on accomplishing things on an international stage, while the republican ex-presidents go home and stew in their libraries.
@kabamli: He still meddles in foreign policy, has never met a leftist dictator he didn't swoon over and he's still the most anti-semitic President we've ever had.
@terlett_trash: Sanity on the Middle East? Wow. He's consistently anti-Israel, thought that the ayatollahs in Iran would be a vast improvement over the Shah, etc.
I don't recall calling him a pussy, so you might want to attack me on things I've actually written, instead of making up shit.
@The One: He's not anti-semitic, unless your definition of that means occasionally criticizing the policy of Israel, which is idiotic.
@The One: It's the "Nobel" committee, and occasional missteps aside, the prize has been near-consistently given to people who actually make a positive difference in the world. Such is the reason Carter got the prize.
@The One: Oh, whatever, I know your kind. Politically right of Genghis Khan, uses "liberal" and "left-wing" liberally as insults, is woefully uninformed about most of the world but is convinced the majority only exists to kill Americans, mistrusts all foreigners but looooves Israel sooo much, harbors eerie fixations on Kennedys and Clintons...
@eatsshootsleaves: You have a mighty flexible definition of the word "flexible."
I still think he's an asshole, and even more of one when he accepted the award (yes, I know how it's spelled, but since I've been suffering with a 101F fever since yesterday, I really don't give a shit about that) knowing that it was being given to him as an insult to Bush. What a man...
@terlett_trash: You know shit. Unlike you, I'm a complex adult who doesn't fall in line with any specific ideology. Just because you know where I stand on 1 or 2 issues doesn't mean that you have any fucking clue as to where I am on many others.
Funny how in your little fantasy world, I'm some sort of caricature, but you are the eptiome of a kneejerk left-wingnut.
@Vivien Smith-Smythe-Smith: I never said that criticizing Israel is the same as being anti-semitic or anti-Israel. Feel free to point out where I've said so.
Sheesh, yourself. Once again, if anyone wishes to debate (or even attack) me for things I've actually said/written, then go for it. But don't make up shit that you wish I'd written, just so you can feel good about yourself when you project it on me and attack. I'm not going to defend the strawmen that you set up, but I will think you're not very bright and will mostly skip past future posts of yours, because I'll assume that reading them and trying to have any kind of discussion with you is a waste of time.
How is Obama's race related to whether or not it's obvious that his speech was well delivered? Along with bein' black, he's also a celebrated orator and has been since his campaign began. I feel like I'm missing something, perhaps clouded by my sick and eternal love for the Clintons.
