Gay men love it, because they all like to think they are strong, proud black women like Aretha on the inside, except without the racism or sexism or loss of actual privilege.
One way to increase clicks and comments is to include at least one outlandish or just plain wrong remark in each post. Overstate the case, and let people talk about it. It works—look at the first thread of this post—but it can also insult your readers and make you seem like a jerk.
@Oy Veh (Informality Reigns): I’d be dangerous if I were doing something other than writing a dissertation, developing software, and pissing in the wind commenting on this site.
I was just discussing Mizz Retha the other night with some other (non-self-loathing, thank you) homosexuals, who reminded me that her appearance was gayer than a tree full of parrots, not only because of The Hat but because she took a big, fat, juicy diva-breath right in the middle of "country" with for a most hilariously bawdy effect.
@tammyfey: "gayer than a tree full of parrots"-- Colorful, loud, and ultimately willing to shit all over you? Yikes! I mean, I'm gayer than an Easter Parade, but, well.. I think I'll try to stay on your GOOD side!
@BookishLookish: This is exactly what I come to Gawker for: Not just sparkling wit, but sparkling wit that would never appear in my real life in a million years.
@Oy Veh (Informality Reigns): Further indication that the glamour quotient has fallen: people cannot tell the difference between a pillbox and a beret! Shameful!

Two Ohio photos make this the best Inauguration post ever. Notice that Ohio has a university. Michigan just has old dudes in a bar. Very true to real life.
Also, what is up with the one guy in DC who is watching this on TV?! Dude, just turn around! Its right behind you!"
A phrase from our new President Obama's inaugural speech:
"We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you."
I watched the inaugural speech today and I was sitting here thinking what a good speech President Obama was making and then he spoke the words above. For some reason this phrase jumped right out at me and has been weighing heavy on my heart ever since. I think it ironic that President Obama chose these particular words in his speech since isn't that exactly what abortion is....slaughtering innocents? But yet, he doesn't take a firm stand against abortion and in the past his wife has been an advocate for partial birth abortion. How easily we dismiss 'slaughtering innocents' in our own United States of America in the name of 'equality' and 'pro choice' and because our vision is clouded by prosperity and getting ahead. What about equality and the choice to live for all of those 'slaughtered innocents' that die in our country every day? Their voice can't be heard by the politicians and the 'Pro Choice' advocates but I guarantee you one thing, God knows each and every one of those precious innocent human beings and they will all have a place in heaven.
@What I Meant Was...: I'm sure he makes the rounds of fertility clinics in his home town and regularly has the created-to-be-discarded embryos implanted in his butt, carrying them to term. By now, Mr. Oscar is "dad" to 857 such progeny.
@OscarMenestheus: How many abortions did George Bush and the Republican Party save during their rule? Oh that's right, they only use that issue to raise money. From people like you.

No kidding! I'm not a fashiony gay man or a milliner and even I screamed "honey, no" at that hat description.
End times, people, end times...

I've always thought of myself as more of a cowardly, self-hating white boy. But I DO think I could turn that hat *out* (snaps)

a) Check out the Pelosi's, right behind O.
b) What's with the Luftwaffe pilot in the top right?
c) Would you be good enough to run this through your facial recognition software, or find the seating chart with all the names?
