    @sharpshinyclaws: Also, it's a little late in the season but (no snark) if it was a rutting buck, they will come up and smash things like bikes and cars even if the vehicle is at a full stop. I had a buck take out my headlight and indicator light with his antlers a few years back.

    You're missing the deer conspiracy percolating on Long Island. A handful of years ago, an ex-boss of mine who had given up making my life miserable so as to do the same with the deer population (he was an anti-deer activist) was killed by a flying Bambi. He was riding his bike through the Hamptons when a car hit a deer and lobbed it at him, scoring a hit. Gawker has taken some flak recently from our new and know-it-all commenters for not researching stories to their liking. So here's a post where Gawker can be ahead of the curve, which, come to think of it, was where my guy got it -- an early victim of the Great Long Island Deer Conspiracy.

    @Weegee's bored: Deers are no joke out East. They have huge rib cages, so unless you are SUV'd up, a collision with one will pretty much total your car/ send you through the windshield.
